Which Yakima Lock n Load for GX470? (1 Viewer)

Hey all,

I’m starting my GX470 overland build and want to throw a roof rack on. I’m trying to figure out which Yakima LocknLoad rack will fit. I haven’t seen a GX470 with that rack, only a couple of GX460. If someone can, please share which size(s) will fit and if I should attach to the crossbars or the towers?

Or if someone can direct me to a roof rack under $1k that’s easy to install and looks similar in style to the Yakima LocknLoad or Front Runner, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

For the lock n load I'd gather the 460 size is probably a good baseline. As far as mounting goes, I'd use their Skyline towers to get it as close to the roof as possible. Unfortunately that adds $300ish to the price tag.

Finding a rack that's less than $1k and still looks good seems to be the eternal struggle.

Hey! Thanks for responding. I’m in Seattle.

I’ve seen the lock n load size E on a 460 with OEM rail on Reddit but I wasn’t sure if that meant the same size would fit onto a 470 - not sure of the measurements of the OEM rack on the 470 vs 460.

Seems like a reasonable baseline, just read elsehwere the 460 roof is 1" wider. Those Yakima racks are designed to be a pretty generic fit and you can attach the rack mount points at any width along those cross bars. Was going to say hit up the Seattle Rack Attack but apparently WA is the only western US state where they don't have a store.


another thread pointed me down another rabbit hole and this looks decent for $750, especially since the crossbars fit into the standard roof rails and you can buy it piece meal.
