The light is a National Luna touch light that I got from Equipt. This one is selectable between white light and amber (three levels of brightness on both colors), but they also sell one that has red and white. I like the amber since it seems to attract fewer bugs, which is great when camping.

Does the light only do white or red also? And what brand/model?

If you talking about the light in post #19, that is made by National Luna, sold by Equipt. I have the same exact light in the same exact location, really like it, highly recommended. I was just outside in the hotel parking lot using it a few minutes ago.

Just to clarify, I'm not doing anything special here. Cruiser Outfitters sells a ready to go kit that does this, and has everything you'd need for a fair price. What I did was the bargain basement version of a similar mod. For about $25 in new parts, bits and bobs from my shop, plus a bit of my time, I was able to build something functionally similar.
