According to Reuters:
Press release by Toyota concerning the release of both their hybrid Lexus 400h and Highlander.

"The new SUVs, being built at its domestic plant in the southern island of Kyushu, are powered by a 3.3-liter V6 gasoline engine coupled with an improved hybrid system that gets acceleration comparable to a 5.0-litter gasoline engine while releasing less harmful emissions.

Both SUVs can be driven 41.9 miles on a gallon of gas — comparable to a compact car and a significant improvement over the same models fueled by a gasoline engine only."

I particularly like the 41.9 miles to gallon and the part about 5.0 liter power from a 3.3 liter V-6...

On a side note, rumour has it the Lexus GS430 will have a hybrid powerplant added to give it a powerboost.

Why is this in the FJ Cruiser section?? :flipoff2:

I believe the RX400h is the first vehicle to have a hybrid that performs better than the gas version...there was a thread about this in some other place, probably chit-chat, but how a hybrid can actually be the top notch vehicle, good emissions, good mpg, and more power and better performance than a non-hybrid vehicle...very cool I think.

Sorry Mark, I thought there was some earlier discussion on the powerplants that we would like to see in the FJC, and rumours of a possible hybrid FJC option.

So I found the article interesting.
