Hey guys & girls! I need to get a new ac compressor for my 06 gx470 but I’ve been running into a few issues. First off, I prefer buying Toyota & Lexus OEM parts online, not at the dealership. I found the one I need for $450+tax which isn’t anything to scoff at.

I found these two on Amazon. Based off product details alone, the decision is easy, but the reviews say otherwise.

Denso 471-1005 New Compressor with Clutch https://a.co/d/1CT1BXf

Denso 471-1412 New Compressor with Clutch https://a.co/d/3GQiAWu

Amazon makes returns pretty easy man, just buy them both and get the job done before the return window closes.

Good point. Thanks!

If you put your vin number in on a Lexus parts website you will get the part number and be able to match it.
Also check Rockauto, pretty sure they have Denso and you can use the part number search.
Welcome and good luck!

Rock auto really sucks to deal with if you get the wrong part. And don't even scratch or put any kind of mark or tape on the part package. They won't take the return if the box isn't perfect. They're douchebags.

If you go to densoautoparts.com, enter your year make model and do a part search for compressor, Part No. 471-1005 is for "w/ Auxiliary A/C" meaning, it's the one for models with rear ac so that's the part that you want.

Ironically, I ordered the gpd compressor kit because it had extra goodies. Rockauto said it fit the gx470, but lo & behold it’s near impossible to install on the truck. The expansion valves & desiccant stuff fit just fine, but the actual compressor didn’t come with the electrical plug or somewhere to attach the original one too.

I returned it on a warranty basis, and got back store credit. Since I couldn’t wait for the part I ordered the denso 471-1005 from Amazon, which came prefilled with the correct oil amount & viscosity so that was great! Got my store credit back on Wednesday June 22nd, a week after I shipped it back.

Thanks! I’ll stick to the OEM parts from now on. If anything , I think Rockauto may have been lenient since I didn’t exactly ask for a refund. Who knows?

I didn’t get to thank you before, so thank you now! Ultimately that’s the one I went with and it works perfect!!!

I shipped back a Motorcraft hub/bearing assembly for my old POS ford, $300 or so. It had not been installed, or even removed from the box.. but they refused to refund it because the Motorcraft box had been taped shut and marked on for shipping (arrived in a much larger box with several other parts). They also refused to send the part back to me without me paying shipping. It was headache, and they were real douchebags about it. I will never shop there again. With shipping and tax they really aren't much cheaper than other sites anyway, and those clowns still have not figured out how to pay tax in the state of colorado.

Last few times I have price checked them (as far back as 2 years) they don't ship to Denver because of how the sales taxes work. Incredibly stupid for such a large company to shut out such a huge potential sales area, and I would guess they don't ship to a lot of metro areas because of that. They really are morons.

My experience with Rock Auto has been good over the past decade. I order "big" things there that are cheaper than the local auto parts stores. Stuff like struts, shocks, radiators, AC parts, brake rotors, LCA's, timing belt kits, etc - they are often 40% cheaper than Autozone/O'reillys/NAPA. When I've made warranty returns (ripped CV boots), they've also been totally fine. When it comes to paying $60 for a strut vs. $100, it's hard to justify the local parts store. You do get what you pay for though, don't expect brick and motar service when the parts are sold so cheaply. For me it's been worth it to save hundreds (thousands?) of dollars on parts over the past decade. Regarding Amazon, it's full of fake parts.....so buyer beware.

Any smaller parts or reman parts (CV's, brake calipers, etc) I pick up from the local O'Reilly's/NAPA. They are always more expensive but easier to deal with for returns. For my O'Reilly's if I order a part by 10 AM they'll have it by 1 PM the same day - very useful for weekend wrenching.

Amazon fake parts is a real problem. Same as eBay. Infested with fakes. Got fake denso O2 sensors from Amazon.

I used to order auto parts from Amazon, but now I check the online Toyota/Lexus web sites for oem parts. I check rockauto for denso or aisin parts.
