Hi,
I have a (new to me) 2001 Amazon with the factory fitted TNS 500 nav system.
I have removed the single DIN screen unit, and the CD/GPS box from under the driver's seat (UK RHD model), yet can still get full audio from the toyota head unit.
I've trawled the FAQs, but haven't found a clear answer:
Does my vehicle have a seperate amp somewhere else, or are the speakers being driven direct from the (Toyota standard) head unit?
Thanks,
Scott

Under the passenger seat... that's where mine is...

The CD GPS box isn't the only thing down there. You should have a silver box under the right seat as well, that's your amp.

And lets stick with left and right seat on this one, as we're already confusing driver and passenger seating (US vs UK)

My Dutch Januari 2003 HDJ100 4.2TD w/AHC (that I bought without a headunit or navigation) also does not have an external amplifier.

Under the left seat there is a fan unit for the rear heater. Under the right seat is carpet only.

The speaker wires are connected directly to my radio. They come from the original wire harness, i have an adapter to ISO10487 conector that goes to my headunit. The speakers are directly driven by the headunit.

Buying the official Toyota Electrical Wiring Diagram for your exact car would be money very well spent for situations like this.

Indeed. I have one on the way from the US to me.

Have also discovered that it's a 2000 model I have, but it was registered on Jan 1st 2001.

Do you have the sub in the back as well?

I though the sub came as standard in all models... I'll have to see what I have behind my rear panels.
Certainly no sound from it though :(
