We're not trying to make you feel like an idiot, in case you're getting that impression. Just letting you know that there are better, more reliable options out there.

BTW, the brush guard wasn't factory. It was a dealer-installed item.

so can anyone direct me then to a source for the better arb bars? and thanx for the response

Just to clarify, are you talking about the "Manik" kind that so many of the mall cruisers in the US had or the JDM ones that were optional from Toyota? (I'm guessing the former, but...)

And yes, you would be better protected against small/medium accidents in shopping malls parking lot and such with the ARB.

GOOD LUCK!

For an ARB or other front bumper options you'd be hard pressed to find a better source than Sleeoffroad.com - Toyota SUV Off-Road Outfitters I really like the shortbus bumper- that's what I have on my cruiser. It's a lot lower profile than the ARB.

farrk007,
You will help us if you will list your location, your vehicle year, and when appropriate your model and engine.

This is an international forum. You have already received replies above from a member in Japan. Helping you find a vendor will depend on where you are located.

As you have been informed above, most here on 'Mud are off-road enthusiasts and the "brush guard" style is not highly regarded. That being said, it may still be the best option for you. It is your truck and you can decide what you want on it. Post a wanted thread in the classifieds section and I am sure you will have several takers and the price will be very reasonable since most of us don't want them and have removed them and thrown them in the brush pile beside the ugly old trailer made from the bed of a Cheby pickup truck. :D

ARBusa.com is the arb site -
FWIW -
I have bought from Dallas Toyota (972) 243-3526 and spoke with Jacque, mentioned IH8MUD and I got an ARB for my brothers 08 Tacoma delivered for about $870.

I do like the Slee's though.....
