for years the common procedure was new tire up front, then someone locked up and got loose; crashed.

The lawyers sued to such a degree that now the procedure backed by the rubber manufacturers association says new must be in the rear. The next major lawsuit will probably go back to the front. :meh:

I 'member something about new tires on the front for a rear wheel drive & new tires on the rear for a front wheel drive.

Of course I used to buy $10 used tires for my Toyota pickup truck and the newest used tire went on the wheel that had the last blowout! o_O Never had one new tire never mind two new tires at a time . . .
