Anybody from Northern California know a good place to go wheelin and camping? I know the good places are probably snowed in but i was wondering if anybody knew a place that wasn't snowed in or don't have snow. I'll hit up hollister or prairie city as a last resort.

Dont know!...but i just wanted to say, I used to live in Laguna Niguel.

How far do you want to travel? Usal Beach is fun on the lost coast, but you're looking at 5+ hours from Santa Cruz.

here's a link to Skillet's thread about Usal Road.

I wheeled Iron Mountain Road last night. It was icy in parts but there was good snow up around Silver Fork. Man up and go for it.

Oh and Norcal includes everything north of Madera, your talking a HUGE area.

In the winter, most of the really good wheeling and camping is snowed in. You might try places like Clear Creek or Medocino National Forest or even out to Usal Beach and pointws north. Much of what's out there will be a muddy mess-fun if it's been dry for a week or so. Everything starts to open back up in April or so.

Hollister and Prairie City--I'd rather stay home and work on the truck.

Hollister in the rain is one day of fun (sort of) and a week of cleaning that red crap off everything underneath.

Head up to Iron Mountain Road and play in the SNOW!
Hwy 50 to Pollock Pines, then Sly Park road south and turn left after the lake on "Alternate Hwy 50" and go over the dam. Your on your way to deep snow cruising, but look at for all those Audi's heading to Kirkwood via MapQuest.

Green Horn Creek in Grass Valley is about the best spot to play in norcal and it is our back yard. You can camp and wheel around, and there are a few dirt roads out of there that you can explore that you can take to other areas like I80 or hw20. See old cemeteries, Gold diggings etc. And most of it is below the snow line the creek is like 2500ft I think. We have lost some of the area do to someone building there house down there but it is still way better that HH or Prairie city. I would just do a snow run or stay home if it were Prairie city or HH.

Please keep the area clean pack out your trash and be very careful some of the hills down at Greenhorn that people play on are class 5 and I have seen many, many, many trucks roll. And that is in the summer if the hill is wet and slick don’t try it. Also don’t flood your truck in the creek.

the mud does not bother me at Clear Creek, the dust on the other hand.........

I love climbing to the top of San Benito Mountain and camping, nice view of all the valley cities....watch out for big cats

How do you get to green horn creek or clear creek from stockton?

hey! i wanna come!!!!
