Where is my distributor's hold-down bolt?

So, I'm there doing the timing, but I couldn't find the hold-down bolt. Where is it? ('83 FJ60).

Not that it's going to help my (&^% smog check any. I'm CO high (O2 happens to be low), so I guess I have a bad smog pump (soesn't seem to be the case) or a leak for incoming air somewhere. Bleh.

So, if you are standing on the passenger side front tire facing the distributor, follow the dist down and just to the right. You should see one 12mm hex bolt.

I hope that helps.

I just noticed you are in San Diego. If you ever want to work on your truck, let me know. I'm working on my girl's 60 right now trying to get the idle, and timing and valving right...

Hey, thanks--for the response and the offer. Might have to take you up on that sometime. I'm in west Clairemont.

BTW, how are those 33's with the stock engine/transmission?

The 33's are a little sluggish, but not that bad. Let's just say that I know the slow lane really well. I may want to go 4.11s sometime in the far future. I got to test the stopping power of my configuration this morning as I almost rear ended some a#*hole who slammed on his brakes to exit the freeway right in front of me. The old girl took a while to stop...I think I'll feel better with rear discs.

I'm in mira mesa. Just let me know if you ever need help. I'll gladly come over and drink all of your beer while you work. ;)
