Where Have you Driven Your 40-Series This Week?

Hit the washed out section of the FS 506 down to Bear Creek for some prospecting. Found another old mining area with equipment. Came up on a well-armed claim jumper. I'm a little uncomfortable around people with more bullets than teeth.
"You out here by yourself?" he asked. LOL. Think my bear spray is gonna need a 2nd A upgrade soon.
Beautiful day even with the heatwave. 80' at 6,000' Hike up a wash I had tagged on the map to scout a granite extrusion.

Found the old cabin. 1870's. Beams were 2' thick so they couldn't be "burned out" by the Apache raiders.

Passed this pig head. I hear they are used to bait cougars around here.

It feels like I've gone back in time.

Among daily driving duties I went to check out this absolute time capsule FJ60 with @bottombracket Galen yesterday.

Easily one of the nicest 60’s out there today… crazy good.

Did you get it?
If I had the dough it’d be in my driveway.
The only 60 I’ve been in on par with this one was @CenTXFJ60 jimmy’s copper.

We were looking at it for an out of state friend of Galen’s. I can’t imagine that dude passes on it.

I don’t drive a 40 so have not seen this thread until Ian tagged me. My son is a Toyota Tech at the dealer in Fort Collins and has kept this 76/40 going for a widow. Her and her husband bought it in the late 80’s. Shes ready to sell it and my son just sent me these pics earlier this morning. She’s hoping to get close to $30. Have no idea what they are worth but can connect you with my son if you know anyone that would be interested. He says it’s a really nice 40. Some mild rust in the regular areas. My son has been driving/working on cruisers since he was 15.

ODD series of events….

Gorgeous day here today. I decided to run a few errands and took the 40 out. Even polished and waxed a few ares before I left the house. During this trip, I went to a supermarket to pick up a few little supplies. . .the car next to me when I came back out had parked like a complete A-hole in a new Volvo suv thing and had his rear passenger tire about a foot over the painted white line.

Uneventful… I am home about 2 hours. A local township police car pulls up my road so I go out side to see what’s up. The guys ask me if I have a green jeep. I’D IMMEDIATELY said ‘don’t call it a jeep” with a smile. Hey, it’s two cops.

They proceed to tell me about a car that was damaged and I may have hit this $$$ Volvo. I said let’s go look at the Land Cruiser and you tell me. One of them tells me he saw that tape and it doesn’t look like id hit anything. After see the 40he said..nope. Nothing there. I said to go look at the other side to be sure. He said no it would be right here and my 40 is spotless.

At this point they are both really into the 40 and ask me about it. Now they’re in my wheelhouse. I popped the hood, show them the fuel injection, power windows, new ProCar seats, terrain tamer suspension, 3.70 differentials. Etc etc etc.

They both left happy with my phone number to come back this winter and go hunting on my land

What trailer is that?

Dunbar Kappel M100. If I remember correctly, it’s from 1953. It was replaced with the M416 military trailer.

I added the front spare mount yesterday and the receiver back when I rebuilt it.
