Where Have you Driven Your 40-Series This Week?

My wife and i are volunteering with the Gila NF. Silver City. Love it!
We need to explore that area more. Our property is in northern New Mexico so we tend to B-line it there but I spent some time in the Gila a long time ago and would love to go back.

Around town, and up to a local campground to stalk the sites. Thinking this will be easier than trekking to the sierras with the little ones, and might mean we get a few extra camping trips in. Took note of a few good ones, and ran down the road a bit more just to see what there was to see. Found this 60 series guy hiding at a small trailhead.

Evidently, he hates mud too!

You are welcome anytime!! Very chill down here. I visit my nephew in Madrid a few times per year. He knows where all the fish and elk like to hide.

Hey @dazerb
Appreciate the invite. I’ll text you now an introduction but you might want to scrub your number from the previous post.

Appreciate it,
Ian

My 40 didn't hit the trails today, but it did end up at Compucars here in Loja. It’s not every day you see a shop filled with this much vintage Toyota iron:
  • The Blue 40: Just finished up with a fresh set of bearings.
  • The Cream 40: Patiently waiting on a new distributor to find its spark again.
  • The Green 40: This one belongs to Arturo, the owner. He’s a specialist who actually understands these machines, which makes him a rare breed.
  • The "Invisible" Mustard 40: Not pictured, but it’s a time capsule and likely the most original and pristine 40 in the city.
Then there is mine (the gray resto-mod). I feel incredibly fortunate to have a guy like Arturo in my backyard. Finding someone who respects the history of these trucks while helpfully navigating the quirks of a resto-mod is worth their weight in 2F head gaskets.

If you’re ever trekking through the southern Andes and hear a familiar gear whine, you now know where the local pack congregates.
