I realized this weekend that I have the original navigation DVD when neither my in-laws subdivision or the highway going to it showed up. Where do you guys get updated DVDs? I know I can go to a dealership at pay $250, but I would prefer to not spend that much. Have any of you used NavDVDs.com? They have the 2013 disc listed for $49.99. How well do the burned discs work?

I've only purchased OE discs from an online Lexus dealer in TX, they are $165 and the most recent release, 2013, is available for shipping in a couple of weeks.

Keep searching... someone here posted free (FREE) downloadable maps - and they work. I have an '06 and the map was clearly outdated. I downloaded the one the 'Mud member linked, burned it to a DVD... and it works great. Well, it works as well as a DVD-based map can work. I still use the iPhone (Waze) now.

I'll look again for that thread. Cross your fingers that the 'Mud member who posted it chimes in.

Perhaps thats why these discs are so cheap. For the price difference, I'm willing to be a year off.

Even after updating the DVD, I don't use it. The web-based maps are just so much better. And ya know your DVD's not going to let you know there's a speed trap up the road, or a stalled car, construction... Save your money - download Waze for free.

It's more of an OCD thing. I love google maps to check for traffic and what not, but it drives me nuts to have something built in thats inaccurate. If the DVD is good, it will last me at least a few years. $50 bucks for 5 years of operation is well within my budget.

Update: I got the disk last night. I have to assume this is a pirated disk, since it did not come in a jewel case and the label was slightly pixelated. However, it works perfectly so I don't care. Next time I visit my inlaws will be the test, since their whole subdivision was built after the date on my prior disk. All things considered, its a good product for a very fair price.

Thanks for the update. I'm going to go ahead and order myself.

For those that are uber OCD I received an email from Lexus stating the V14.1 update is on sale for $99 (DVD only, SD card is $149) through the end of the year. Not $50 cheap but a little better if you're not comfortable ordering a burned copy. I still haven't ordered anything myself.

Any idea if the newer updates like V14.1 will work on an older Nav system (like the Gen3 (?) in my 03 100 series)? Can they be used on LCs or ares the somehow Lexus-specific?

Yes there is a V14.1 update for older systems. The site has part numbers listed of what one to order for each year, there is a "What to Order" tab. Not sure on LX vs. LC specific. I'd assume they are interchangeable. Here's the site that the email linked to http://www.lexusnavigation.com/
