Ive done some digging and have not really found any good options for a replacement head liner for the early 80 series land cruisers. if any one has some info on where to source one i would really appreciate it.

Thanks

I think the only option would be custom from an auto upholstery shop or used both would be hard to do. Used would be hard to remove and install without tearing and if you were to find a custom shop willing to do it I'm sure it would be outrageously expensive.

I paid $250 to have mine reupholstered. Probably not as expensive as you think as long as you drop and remove the headliner.

do you have the later model head liner which has an entire tray that drops down? in the earlier model land cruisers the head liner is a piece of cloth that is stretched over the roof using some clips and glue. its fragile unit.

Yeah mine drops down.

I was told by the local Toyota body shop manager to contact an upholstery shop and talk to them about a "headliner reconditioning kit". It's just the fabric that's attached to the headliner cards. You can do the job yourself, but you need a large table to work on. This is the setup used on upholstery shops. Drop by one and look at their setup.

This is the way an upholstery shop will approach the job, if you bring them the truck and don't specify how you want it done. Then they look up the replacement headliner cost and quote you that.

This isn't an option for the >01-95 models with the glued in place headliner. The only option there is to remove the old fabric and glue new fabric in place. Or so I've been told. Based on my limited peeking under the covers, I tend to agree with what I've heard. This is not a DIY job, unless you have two friends and limitless patience.
