'Local governments' I would translate as 'city governments', in which case this won't have much effect on any of us. That's just a guess, though.

Howdy! Right at the beginning it says Az DEQ, which can affect the whole state. It goes into effect on Tuesday for Phoenix. Don't know what the date is for other metro areas, but I would bet it will be enforced in Tuscon, and maybe state wide. John

Next we'll have to haul our weedwhackers and chainsaws down to the emmision stations

Howdy! I wouldn't be surprised if we do!! Actually, all those little 2 stroke yard tools are terrible polluters. A long time ago I read an article that compared one hour of running a weed whacker to one month of driving your car to work, or something like that. Sort of sucks, but I really don't like the electric ones. John

Stihl has come out with 4 stroke models which are cleaner burners, especially the blowers. I agree about the electrics, I have an electric mower that has cost me several extension cords.
I hope being in rural Pinal County will keep the DEQ off my back for awhile.

Don't be so sure!! Pinal county has had several exceedences on their air monitors down there and are currently in the process of addressing PM10 emmissions in that county as well. They are currently not in Non-Attainment like maricopa county is but they will be soon if they do not at least try to address the PM10 in that area.

I was in a whole series of stakeholder meetings down there representing agriculture in the area. We are trying to hold them off as long as we can but you are definately in the crosshairs in Pinal County!!:bang:

X 2 on the two stroke numbers, this bad boy smokes a lot when she is warming up.

You know that was why I went with this more efficent model... plus it had cool saddle bags and rear view mirrors. Can never have too much bling. I'm also looking at trading in the 62 and getting a 100 series to mach this baby on my next camp out.

The saddle bags I understand. Important things like salt, shot glasses, stirrers etc. could be stored there very efficiently. The rear view mirrors are a bit much for me though...I generally haven't had a need to Merge Safely while making margaritas or daquiries...:hillbilly:

my understanding is this isn't about emissions it's about particulate levels (dust).
they want to restrict use of OHVs on days when a high pollution advisory is in effect,
kind of like no using your fire place during certain days of the year...

They need to accept the fact that this is a desert and airborne particulates are the price you pay for 360 days of sunshine every year.
If this were a rainforest, there'd be restrictions on hosing down your driveway when it rains.
"See? We're making a difference. Now we need a bigger budget and more staff. Then we can make an even bigger difference."
Problem is, I doubt they're making much of a difference at all.

Obviously:doh: you need to increase the frequency :bounce:of your random sampling for quality control. Frequent and prolonged sampling will insure quality production and harmonious enployee :clap:relations. The use of two mirrors will allow you to see yourself coming and going :hmm:at the same time, if you are doing adequate sampling. Excuse me, I've got to go now and make another batch of Irish Coffee:hillbilly: for breakfast. :grinpimp: John

Howdy! Ya got that right. Chandler has one of those "better ideas", They are paving the alleys for "dust control". In one day they created more dust than 10 years worth of weekly visits from the garbage truck. Now I think I'll go hose down the dust off of my patio and driveway since that is obviously more important than WATER!! John

It's all about the mighty dollar. For the last two years I've taken one of the company Kenworths down to the emmision station for testing. Both times their equipment was out of service. The took my money and gave me a pass waiver:rolleyes: What a joke...
