So about a week ago I purchased a set of 33x12.50R15 BFG Allterrain TA's for my 99 tacoma. I had them mounted on the factory alloys because of reasons I wont get into here, but that was just a temporary thing, I'm planning on mounting them for good on 15x8 rims. On the current rims they are slightly rubbing the top A-Arm, and at full turn they barely nick the back side of the frame. The guy at Discount Tire told me I could get 15x8 steel wheels to fit the tacoma, which sounded good to me, I'm not into curb appeal, just offroad a$$kickin. Now I went in today and they were singing a different song, saying that any and all steel wheels will not fit on tacomas because of the boltplate not clearing the brake caliper. Is this true? And if it is, what is your views on wheel spacers, do they work, and will they hold up in moderate offroad conditions? Once again I'm about performance so the parts have to be good. Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated, I find myself with 4 tires that wont fit my truck right now.

not sure with your application, but if the rim hits the caliper I know people have taken an angle grinder to the caliper and trimmed it down to make it fit with no problems. again, not sure about the '99 Tacoma
any pics??

here it is the day i got the tires. How much trimming is required off of the calipers?

I believe rock crusher rims may hit the caliper, I have a 90 series prado [same front end/brakes] and I run ROH track 2 16 x 8 rims which just clear.

The best way to tell will be try afew though.

Tacorocker, I have a 01 Taco with 285/16 (roughly 33x10) Bridgestones, when I had the tires mounted on the stock alloys they rubbed at the back of the frame as yours did. I baught some black steelies from Wheelers Off-Road (www.wheelersoffroad.com), they make a 15x8 wheel with 3.75" backspacing that will clear the calipers. Wheelers also has a bunch of other cool stuff for Tacos and their prices aren't too bad either.

Wheeler's offroad is always so money. Thanks for the tip Gus, I think thats what I'll do.

I contacted them about sending some of those black alloys over here :D

awaiting a reply.

To australia? yeah thats gonna be a bit of a shipping charge. And I thought mine was bad. sheesh

Its not to bad shipping to here, as weight is the measure normally, and as we know, alloy doesnt way to much.

Though I am looking at shipping more gear to Aus from the US than just the wheels, as I have a market here for some of it.
