Most of the trails right around Pinetop are forest service roads and pretty navigable in stock form if you're just wanting to explore. If you're wanting to explore with the goal of finding some tougher stuff, there is some here and more towards Snowflake (30 miles away) or Holbrook that would exceed even a mildly built 40's capabilities. Plenty of both types, but many more miles of easy forest roads if you stay in the pines.
