Guys hey, im trying to figure out the various wheelbase lengths of the 70's. in particular im wondering about the 77/78 models, the pickups and the troopys.

wikipedia is giving me these lengths

2,310 mm (90.9 in)
2,600 mm (102.4 in)
2,730 mm (107.5 in)
2,980 mm (117.3 in)
3,180 mm (125.2 in)

so im thinking

2,310 mm (90.9 in) short wheelbase
2,600 mm (102.4 in) bj74
2,730 mm (107.5 in) 77/78 models
2,980 mm (117.3 in) pickup
3,180 mm (125.2 in) troop carrier

is that correct? do/did the pickups come in different lengths?

regards,
redd .

The 75 series troopie and ute had the same wheelbase and chassis(2980mm),but when the 78 series (troopie) and the 79 series (cab chassis) were introduced, the 79 had a 200mm longer wheelbase (3180mm)to give the cab a bit more legroom and make the load bay longer.
Those last 2 figures on your list need swapping around

What are you up to Redd?:D

heyy Rosco man, cheers for that. i was toying with the idea of a cab chassis, do build a camper cubicle on the back. it passed though, the goovment is making it too alkward. other than that still assembling bits for this pzj. i got a new door to replace the damaged one, ha, its the same colour but a bit shinyer than the rest of the car . got a pop top for the thing too, not gonna cut into the roof, but weld some brackets on there to attach it.

I was wondering about the actual wheelbase measurements of different models. Does anyone know where to find that information? I haven't been able to track it down.

I'm new here, and can't figure out how to add a picture (maybe I need a certain number of posts before being given that privilege), but I cobbled together a first crack at wheelbases for some 70 series models. Added information would be appreciated. I wouldn't be surprised if these are not correct. The numbers are from the Wikipedia page, and the images are from the Landcruiser Heritage Museum website.

missing the single cab 75. Otherwise looks good

Single cab 75-series should be the same as the 75 Troopy
