I have a 91 FJ80 and am looking to upgrade to 16" wheels. I have found a place that sells thses wheels. http://www.wheelcollision.com/toy5.htm
I want the 93-98 wheels. My first question is will I have any fitment issues with the 16" wheel using the suggestions from the FAQ on tire size in relation to rubbing on a 91 LC?
As you can see from the web site they have two different types of 93-98 16" wheels. One has "acorn lugs" the other has a "mag shank". What's the difference in these two wheels and is the "mag shank" worth the extra cash?

Thanks in advance

Brad

If you get the acorn style you can probably reuse your lug nuts. The later style use a nut with a shank and a built in washer. I think the acorn style wheels have an insert in the wheel whereas the later models us the shank on the lug nut.

If you get 98 rims you are screwed since they are 5 lug not 6.

Also, keep in mind that most would consider going to 16" rims not an 'upgrade'. 15" tires are more readily available with better selection and easier to find (think 3am and you need a tire). Heck some guys here have grinded down the rear calipers to fit 15" rims, so just make sure this is what you want to do.

The name "Wheel Collision" for the people selling these doesn't scare you at all??

The difference in acorn or mag isn't necessarily worth anything but it is more likely that a mag lug wheel will have seen less miles since they are from the 95-97.

I just called them because I am looking for two 40th Anniversary rims for an M416 trailer I am building. Contrary to what I thought, she says there are two different wheel types for 93-97, depending upon whether your wheel nuts have washers or not.

They are completely restoring these wheels to OEM specs and offer a lifetime warranty on clearcoat. If you have donor wheels for repair, Wheels America here in Houston will do them for $129 each.

I have these on my 92 LX wheel . No fitment issues. You may not like how the vehicle maintains speed with a 33" tire though. :crybaby:
