Yep, the RR had a continual oil leak (rear main seal) and the seal around the windshield would pop out while on the freeway so it would flop on the roof.

Looking forward to the project, will post a pics as applicable. Thanks to you and DTT255 for your pics and posts, helped convince with wife... errr, I mean Santa.

P.S. Good job on getting rid of the Land Rover. I have an LR3 along with the LC200, and there is something always wrong with it.

It's sad because I really like the LR3 and RR. They are super nice inside and drive awesome. I've only taken test drives though. It was a hard decision to get an LC over the RR, but in the end I'm glad I did.

I tried hard not to believe that "everyone" has problems with them, even given that consumer reports gave the whole lineup a black dot for reliability.

You gotta admit though that if LR got their act together and got rid of all their reliability problems, it would be a sick vehicle.

Anyways, congrats on the new LC and good luck with the mods! I'm sure DTT will be glad to have competition, although he does have a head start!

Oh, and check your PM. I'm sending you a link.

Congrats on the purchase! Welcome to the family. There is alot to learn here for all of us....

If you need any help with anything, please POST and let us know!

I hope Santa doesn't come looking for me all upset in the next few months when the modding starts:eek:.

x2...both DTT255 and I have done a ton of searches on this vehicle...pics, parts, mods, etc.

Another good site to get you going is LCOOL.ORG. It is an Australian Land Cruiser Owners' site...mostly Diesel, but great info on non engine related topics.

Santa has been on the site and viewed your pics as well as those from DTT255 and viewed TDS videos... she's fully supportive of the addiction. Any suggestions for skid plates? They'll be coming next.

Rasta...about $900 bucks. Replaces all factory skids (about 8) with three 5mm aluminum skids. There are also service holes so you don't need to take them off for a simple oil change (the factory ones need to come off for an oil change...big pain).

You can't go wrong with this product...easy install, good looks, servicable and strong.

LOL, I think we can all agree on this. I somehow managed to dent my front one a bit. It's kinda bent inward across the whole front. Like a perfectly horizontal pole smaked it. There is no signs of indents/damage, just looks like the whole thing was pushed in. Not sure how...but...um....I'd hate to have to try and get those bolts out under compression.
