what's this thing?

This was in the cargo area of the new 60. I have no idea what it is and cannot find where it goes. Anyone got a clue??

i think it bolts onto the tailgate. some kind of safety grab bar for people riding in the back with the back window flipped up.

of course i could be completely wrong

sway bar??

It is painted the same color as the interior trim and has a few screws to attach it to something. It does not appear to be stout enough to be a sway bar or to be attached outside the vehicle. it has some little brown rubbery end caps on it too that also match the interior trim.

Are you sure it's a sway bar?? do you have a pic of how it should be installed? It doesn't look like the sway bar on the 62.

big brown is correct. i bolts inside tailgate of non us 60 series. a requirement in some countries.

I have one on my 81 Fj60. the only one I have ever seen. According to Carfax, the 60 was ordered in Oklahoma. Not sure why it came with that bar.

I've never seen anything but brown. and they are always scratched up anyway. You should just paint a brown one. I have one way up here in Calgary you can have for a box of beer but the shipping will suck.
