What's this sound

Hear this sound after driving just a few miles. Comes from underneath and can be heard even when the motor is running while parked and then for several minutes afterward. It will slowly subside. Sounds like water dripping into a steel washtub if it could be amplified.

perfectly normal. Especially noticeable when it's cold out.

I love that you posted that - great for reference! If it makes you feel better, I have the same noise. I had been concerned at times but have been told and read that it's the cats and it's normal and I just ignore it now. At the same time I don't ever remember having it as loud, consistently or as long on other cars.
