I have been looking for a 76+ FJ40 while reading threads and talking to other owners. I am looking at buying a 1981 with 94k miles, no top, has full doors and half doors. 2.5 old man emu lift. Appears to be very clean but not a frame off restoration. I plan to have it inspected and compression tested. I can provide additional details ut didnt want the first post to be too long. Picture attaced. Thanks for the help.

more details

Thanks. I wasn't sure what is ok to do since I am new to the site. The following is description from the owner. It was on ebay but didn't sell. 1981 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser - 4 Wheel Drive. Tan Exterior With Black Interior. 95,659 Original Miles. Since This Is The 2nd To The Last Year Of Production For This Model It Comes With The Very Rare Power Steering And Front Disc Brakes. I Purchased This Vehicle In October Of 2006 With 94,000 Miles And Proceeded To Mechanically Freshen It With A Carburetor Rebuild, New Water Pump, Reseal The Power Steering Pump Reservoir, New Power Steering Belt, New Spare Tire Holder Bushings, New Heater Core, New Intake Heat Hose & Manifold, New Windshield Wiper Motor, New Front Inner Axle Seals, New Windshield Washer Reservoir, New Clutch, New Engine Oil Pan, New Bellhousing Boot & Bellhousing Plug (Cover), Replace The Engine Mainseal, Adjust Headlights, New Clutch Slave Cylinder, New Leaf Springs & Nitrocharger Shocks, New Ron Davis FJ40 Radiator, New Alternator & Much More. I Will Be Happy To Provide Any Potential Buyer Copies Of Receipts For All The Listed Work And A Copy Of The Clean Carfax. I Do Not Have The Hardtop But I Do Have The Doors Which Can Be Seen In The Photos. This Vehicle Has Always Been Garaged Since I Have Owned It And Put On The Minimal Mileage (1500 Miles) Since All The Above Listed Work Was Performed. The Vehicle Is In Spectacular Overall Condition As Can Be Evidenced By The Photos And I Welcome Any Pre-Purchase Inspection. The Paint And Body Condition On This Vehicle Are Beyond Reproach And You Would Be Hard Pressed To Find A Nicer And Better Cared For FJ40.

Do you want a hard top for it? Soft top only okay? If soft top is fine than bows with a paki style top, or a bestop? That stuff can add up. Does it have a tailgate now? Just wondering how you want to see it complete. Looks great and love that color. Is the upholstery black? 79 and later should be a lighter grey I thought? The seats look like pre 79, do they recline?

It will be garage kept so no top necessary. It has a tailgate with a swing away. Upholstery was redone along the way and is not correct color. I'm not sure on your recline question but will ask. Thanks.
