hi every body i just want to know what's the fuel tank capacity of a 1992 lj77... I want to be sure how much is drinking diesel!! thanks!

It should be 90 litres but you can usualy only get 85 in.
You dont need to know how big the tank is,just do a fill and refill and use the klms and litres to work it out.
Much more accurate

they say 90 ltrs each for front and rear tanks of 75,78,79 series and the 77 having only one tank at the back i presume it would be the same as 75/8/9 rear sub tank 90 but in my old mans 75 diesel once ran out of fuel put 5 ltrs in to get to the servo and could still only get 80 ltrs soo its a bit of a hmm

To get 88 litre I had to lift one side a little on my 73 series.
On the models with twin tanks, the main tank under the cab can usually be filled 2-3 litres more than the rear.
Weird and annoying. When I go on long trips,I would love to have the full 180 litres

last week I filled the tank, then i ran 220 km, and my lj77 drank 37 liters...... I filled the tank on the weekend and now i have ran 250 km in the city with no a/C using half o f the tank..... my lj77 is too thirsty or my fuel meter is no working properly...

You cant get an accurate fuel reading from watching the fuel gauge, but you do need an accurate odometer

However ,if it is using 37 lires in 220klms ,that is too much.
Is it making black smoke?
How long since the injectors were done?

my engine was recently repaired, new piston rings, gasket, oil seals, turbo etc etc... fuel pump was calibrated and the injectors were done to... it was 4000 km ago..... does my engine (2lt mechanical pump)need a tune up ?? it just smoke but just little when you press the gas to the top! thanks!

Is your engine running hot? When mine was rebuilt ,it took 7-8000klms to settle down and wasnt perfect until it had done 20000klms.
If you have someone experienced with Toyota fuel pumps,it wouldnt hurt for them to have a look but it shouldnt need it if it was calibrated during the rebuild.

do you mean if engine runs overheated or in normal temperature? (sorry, english is not my first language!)..........because i never had temperature isues!

Normally after an engine is rebuilt it will run a bit hotter than normal for some time. It can be day or a month.
Does the engine feel like it has good power?

it feels like it has enough power and my temperature gauge is always in the middle!! is that too high??thankyou very much for your answers and time!!

My old 75 temp would run on 1/4 on any day ,driving any tracks in cluding beach work in summer in any heat
My 79 series sits the temp on half and never ever moves dosnt ever get the funny hot smell or use coolant so i think half is okay

Have you checked the odometer with a GPS ?
What size tyres ?

bro your cruiser sure seems to be taking in a lot of fuel, my KZJ71 with a 3.0 litre diesel turbo engine takes around 17litres of fuel to cover 250km in city driving with a/c switched on all the while.... have tested it over and over, the odometer is accurate and i use Hankook 31x11 R15 LT tires....

well having someone to look at your fuel system seems a good idea as the fuel mix may be on the richer side of things, plus the exhaust pipe diameter and the fact whether it is a free-flowing system does make a difference as well...

i never checked the odometer with a gps... my size tyres are 31x10.5R15 dunlop sp rv major

I have check my LJ77 running 31's with the GPS and it is real close to the speedo within 1k running 29's they are out but 31's should be really close to spot on.

thank you very much for all your answers!! at th moment i'm not with free time to take my lj77 to the mechanich... but there is only left 1000 km to change the oil, so i will do an extensive inspection to my lj77
