Hit an estate sale. (Depressing when I think about my own tools being disposed of this way...)

Never seen one of those before. The tapered part is sliding on the shaft. The little circular tips thread on at the end of the shaft. Very well made, heavy duty. OD painted box but no military marking. Didn't know, so had to buy it.

Some sort of centering jig?

Its a tapered Ram or Taperd Centering driver

it looks very SST OTC , but the green box ?

no foil decals or other markings ?

no marking at all that I can see. So maybe shopmade?
Looks quite old. The fit between shaft and sleeve is tight. Maybe a couple of thous or so. Machinist fit?
Figured I can probably find a use for it some day...
What are those intended for?

I think it is a bearing puller.

I have a clutch alignment tool that looks like that.

not a puller, the way I picture them, there is no stop for the sleeve.

The threaded ends must fit in a bore, and the taper must center something related to the former. I should check the size of the ends.

The threaded ends slide into the pilot bushing, the tapered slide slides into the clutch disc and centers the disc to the pilot bushing. . It's a universal kit.

Yup, I think you're right. I searched and saw other tools online that look very similar and were sold as clutch tools.

Too bad. I can't see myself ever doing a clutch again. First time I did one I was in college and had basically only an old hammer, one adjustable wrench and a couple of screwdrivers to my name. No idea how I managed to pull that one off without serious tools. But that's the beauty of youth, no limit to one's ambitions...
