So like the title implies, I have a 3VZ 3.0 Motor that I was rebuilding to go into my 88 project 4Runner, but after some persuasion, thanks Sam :p..., I am now thinking that I should just sell the motor and go all in on what I really want for the truck, a Lexus 4.0 V8.

So I am gonna try and sell the motor and pick up an SC400 or other XX400 car for cheap and strip it and pull the motor and trans for the V8 swap, that said I need to off-load the 3.0 I have been rebuilding.

So here are the stats:

3.0 block, solid. Crank and block in excellent shape. Crank looked freaking brand new after a WASH only.

New pistons and rings
Heads have oversized valves in them with a valve job.
New Oil Pump
All New Stock size bearings on crank and rods
Everything from Engnbldr including the oversized valves

Needs a water pump and timing belt and will be ready to drop in.
I also have a set of used Downey ceramic headers that will go with it. One of them needs some repair work done on it at the collector, nothing a good exhaust shop couldn't fix.
I have alot of misc assorted parts that can go with it, intakes, dizzy, timing covers, blah, blah.

I even have a 3.0 5spd that I would throw in to sweeten the deal, along with the 5spd computer and harness.

So what do you guys think I could get for it? Motor alone, and/or motor and trans, and trans and computer alone?

Thanks,

Matthew

So apparently not much since no one has any opinions.....

Million dollars?

Like I told you up there, they are very hard to come by in good shape. When we have priced one through a recycler they are somewhere in the neighborhood of $2000-$3000. The only other trick is finding someone to buy it. I'll make some calls for you next week and see if I can get a bead on it. You'll probably need to reassemble it completely though. Someone buying one is going to want a complete drop in.

(Also, I take no responsibility for this idea...)

You won't get back what you have in the rebuild. Demand determines value. Not a lot of v6 trucks/4runners from that era out there anymore. With not many of them out there and their age making it hard to spend that much money to replace a bad engine and that might make it hard to sell. I'd be selling it as quick as you can.

Yeah, I'm not looking to get my money back, been acquiring bits for so long I couldn't really figure what I have in it. I just figure, as Sam suggested (and yes you get all the credit for this) that I may as well just off load it and go after a V8 for the swap that I was planning to do eventually anyway.

I just hate to spend any more $$ on it. Guess I will see about getting a timing set and a waterpump to get it more drop in ready.

Gonna be hard as most ditch the 3.0 for anything else. Im goin 1uz-fe in my 79 truck.

That's the 4.0 Lexus motor, right? That is what i am looking to drop in my 88.
