Looked around in "Search", still not sure what to do/how to proceed. I have opportunity to obtain a trailer frame with leaf springs mounted on a cut-off, 3" tube axle. The axle is plenty long enough to finish with hub/spindle of my choice.

What's the best way to end up with what I need to finish so that I can use my extra Toyota wheels and tires? 1)Discard the tube and replace the whole axle or (and this is the part I'm clueless about) 2) obtain Toyota hub/spindle/? What exact parts would I need? What's a general procedure-weld this tube to the back of------?

Thanks for your help.

Easiest way is to weld some early model Land Crusier spindles to your axle tube and use the entire hub assembly. That is if you have these parts lying around. For the most part, it's all junk. We (Proffitts Cruisers) in Delta throw them away all the time.

Or give Redneck trailer supply a call in Montrose. They can sell you all the stuff. It will be $50 or so. They can also make you an axle for around $85.

Good luck.

Jeremiah and crew,

After my original post, I learned the proper words to use for my search and found this info. Thanks very much.

Would you let me know when you've got such an axle I can come down and pilfer from?

Gerry

I'll try and remember to set some spindles and hubs aside the next time we bang out some cut/turn axles. You might check with us in a week or so. Later.
