If you had $20,000 would you buy an FJ Cruiser or a 100 series???

neither, 10k into a built sas 1ton 4runner/mini for the rough stuff and 10 into the 40.. drive the seq for comfort.
FJcruiser needs 40k min new to keep up with your 40, <70k to be great off road with a spotter. no real strong points on or off road. Not that comfy on the road, cant see, crappy gas mileage havent seen 14mpg.

I replied in the other thread already, but just curious...why not consider a used GX? I've occasionally seen 03-04s under $20k with around 75-90k miles.

Neither. Pick something up for cheap like lemony mentioned and build that up. You can get some 4 runners for a good price now a days if you want an SUV, and throw some money at it. With 20g you can build a nice capable rig.

Pick up an 80 series and dump the rest into upgrades.

or you could buy my diesel 60 series 5spd and get 23-25 miles per gallon in town, and have lots of change left over to spare.
