Wondering what is used to stamp circles in sheet metal like this:

My guess is a die.

just a dimple die affair I imagine. Simplest version of which is probably just 2 matching "pucks" that you squeeze together (after cutting a round hole).

some electrical supply houses or maybe even home depo have a hydrolic knockout kit you might be able to rent. its pretty much just like E said, a cup and die. supply houses and home depo have a less sophisticated version you can buy. its just the die set with a ratchet instead of hydro. you could try that.

Cool, thanks for the info. I was thinking about trying to make some sliders similar to the picture and couldn't figure out how to make the holes.

after you cut the steel the right shape maybe a machine shop with a punch press can do it fairly cheap

Hydraulic Punch Driver w/ 5 Hydraulic Punches & Dies

This will punch the holes. They work well.

This particular one is a laser cut and CNC combo unit. too pricey for a small shop, ask a local machine shop or steel supplier for help. Most will be glad to.
