i'm replacing my AC compressor/drier and am (slowly) getting it back together. I was able to find an Autozone that loans out a vacuum pump, however it was almost out of oil, and the little bottle that was in the box only had maybe 1/2 oz in it.

So i'm trying to find vacuum pump oil locally, but the auto parts stores don't seem to carry it, any idea what type of store might sell vacuum pump oil?

Thanks,

Since I'm a ways away, try a commercial refrigeration store, like Johnstone Supply or American Refrigeration Supply.

this is getting silly...

i've called autozone (the place i got the pump from), harbor freight, o'reilleys, advance auto, 3 or 4 refrigeration places, a vacuum pump service place, none of them have it and then finally Napa said that yes, they had the 5 and 10 oz bottles that they show on their web site...so i asked my wife to swing by there and pick it up, and she calls 20 min after the store should have closed to tell me that her and the 4 people who work there (and i'm sure were ready to leave!) had looked up & down every aisle and couldn't find it!

i'll try the 'Napa mothership' store tomorrow a.m., and if they don't have it, i'll just return the pump and have a shop vacuum the system & fill it. This shouldn't be this hard :-)

BTW thanks for the reply guys.

lol if it were me, I'd probably run the pump for 5 minutes, hold vacuum for 5, and repeat as necessary, then charge it up.
