I am about to do a knuckle rebuild on my FJ60.

who should I buy from? Cruiserparts.com sells a koyo brand kit. is that good or should I stick with Toyota genuine parts?

Cruiserparts has a kit with trunion bearings for $87
and they have a knuckle wiper kit for $12
and theyhave Koyo wheel bearings for $58 for the full set of 4, is that a good idea to replace also?

I have 300,000 miles.

the knuckles were rebuilt and bearings repacked 4 years ago, but have been leaking for a couple of years.

I got mine from cruiseroutfitters.com

just give em a call and they'll tell u what u need.

Replace the wheel bearings if they are old and never been replaced. If they were replaced 4 years ago, they should be okay.

wipers come included in the rebuild kit. Not 12 extra.
I used Timken bearings from Autozone. Best deal in town, including bearing shops.

C-dan = Cruiser dan. He is the god of getting toyota parts without killing your pocket book. I highly recommend using him. He works at American Toyota in Albuquerque NM. He is a frequent vistor to chat. This is the number 1-800-432-6668 I forget the Extension.

Dan is the Cruiser King! He's mostly in the 80 section since that's what he drives:)

He stocks ALOT of cruiser parts & can source many hard to find factory parts... You also get a "IH8MUD" discount if you tell him you're from here....

Extension #8 IIRC

Remember you'll also need a fish scale, a 54mm socket, and a torque wrench or two (ft./lbs and, if you can get it, a in/lbs). You might also consider buying that DVD that a couple guys have made (it's in the Vendor section). It's for an 80 series but everything is pretty much the same for a 60 series. I watched it and it certainly made the procedure a little less daunting.

As said above, you can get the bearing/seal kit from many places--Cruiser Outfitters, Marlin Crawler and others all have OEM quality goods...

Good luck!

the gold cad 1/2 "moon's" do not come in 40/60/pre1990-70 series knuckle kits.

I believe the 1/2 moons are $14 a side from OEM Toyota and 1/2 that from Cruiseroutfitters etc.

Most have good luck with the common aftermarket knuckle kits sold (99% have koyo OEM dimension bearings). The inner axle seals are good, and I am not sure if OEM are better.

and repacking wheel bearings solves most issues, replacement is uncalled for.
(though I have seen bad races, bad spindles, and bad brass internal bushings in the spindles)

IMHO, It is never worth it sourcing the knuckle componants from any dealer, they are simply too expensive for what is a really common kit.

cruiseroutfitters in Utah is 1st recommendation
