Has anyone tried to put 100 or some other Toyota front seats in an 80? I'd like to get some Toy OEM heated leather seats to replace mine. I've heard of putting 470 seats in a 450. Yet to see it done though.

I have put seats from Honda Jazz - they way more comfy then standard seats in entry-level LC. To achieve this I have to fabricate subframe for seats by using Toyotas legs. Biggest issue was trying to keep them as low as possible because they interfere with centre tunnel. So if you going to do something like that plan it carefully.

Well not OEM, I'm going to replace both my front seats with Recaro.(Same as the one in the pic except, I want them in black)

The Corbeau Moab looks like an excellent choice. Slee sells a heated seat kit for your current seats, which I agree completely suck. I had mine reshaped (the bottom cushion) at a local trim shop - much, much better but not luxury class by any means.

LX - I might go the Recaro route. I've had them before and they fit like a glove.

I'm not complaining about the seats. The fit could be better, but when compared with the 07 Camry seats I just spend over 30 hrs in they're fabulous.

Ive put an 80srs drivers seat in a 75srs before, but a 100srs seat is too big for an 80 IMHO.
In my comp trucks and long distance cruisers, I put Recaros - these 2 have N-Joys, now a superceeded model, that suits tall people.
Ive always had excellent service from Recaro too,FWIW.

Very nice. What's that huge fuzzy thing growing between the seats? :)

LOL - the huge center console for holding lots of crap - makes a nice armrest with a fluffy sheepskin lid.:) Both vehicles have identical ones.
The 2 way is on the right (drivers side) just behind the handbrake.
In 100srs's I use the Recaro runners/slides with a custom base bolted to the floor, but on other vehicles I have used the OEM base and even runners with 50 x 5mm flat bar to adapt to the seat.
80srs seats unbolt from the runners nice and flat, but there was something different about a 100 that made it easier to start from scratch - I cant remember what.
One of the handy things about Recaros is that they mount low, so theres lots of room to make a base or adapt something.
Hope this helps someone.

It doesnt quite work like that, or at least it didnt used to. All Recaros mount the same - with 6 nuts welded into the seat base. But these holes dont line up with anything on an 80srs.
From memory, the 80srs seat is slightly offset from the mounts in the floor as well. So if you adapt to your OEM runners, check this.
I was told a few years ago of some Recaro boffins coming out from Japan or Germany or somewhere, measuring up various 4wds, in Oz so they could produce a bolt in base. Maybe check there web site?
If you do lots of long distance driving or have a bad back, Recaros are well worth looking into. I spend much more time driving, than in front or the computer or TV, and supportive seats reduce fatigue so you are more alert. Also I need to be able to get out of a vehicle after a few hours and be able to get to work straight away, not get out needing a massage or a sleep.
Good luck

The most important things you need to get the seat bracket so that will allow to fit the Recaro seat in your 80s.

And where did you get that idea :flipoff2:? No the OEM 80s seat bracket will not work with the Recaro seat.

For U.S authorized distributor you can get the Recaro seat bracket thru http://www.wedgeengineering.net/SEATBRACKETS/tabid/5426/Default.aspx scroll down the list you'll see the 80s seat bracket part number for the Recaro seat. You can call them and speak to the owner name Wendo.
