Fairey?

Could be a Fairey OD unit. It replaced the back half of the split transfer case with a larger one that enclosed the OD gear. I had one on a previous FJ60 and it worked great. Its too bad they aren't made any more.

Or a second tcase. Although that shifter does not look like a mini tcase unit.

can u put a fairy OD on the back of a 5 speed h55f to get even more OD

Maybe it's an OX locker for one of your axles. That would be a sweet score!

Check under the truck for a second t-case like Mace said.

Looks like FOD on an 81-84 4-speed.

And yes, an FOD can be installed behind an H55, according to the installation booklet.

shet a mate with a hj60 sold his complete but rusty 60 to the wreckers forr $600 it had the FOD i should have grabed it for my the h55f fj75 ahwell i got the differnt box in my fzj79 now days
