on the shifter console the button that says 2nd

what does it do

yeh I know newbie question but I dont own an 80

When that is depressed, the truck begins forward movement in second gear, instead of first. Helps on icy roads and other low traction situations - ie, minimizes wheel spin.

Yeah it's a great button to be friends with. Used it a lot in ice and muddy loss of traction situations.

It makes the trans start in second gear. This reduced the torque to your wheels and helps with starting on slippery surfaces like snow and ice.

A poor man's traction control. :D

They're all lying to you.

It's the button that guarantees that you'll come in 2nd place when racing the cruiser.

Really, it is. It's in the manual...look it up...

Yeah that might be what LX extreme thought it did at first.
Hey dont get me involve in this.. :D Im innocent I didnt do anything... :flipoff2: No actually the 2nd button next to the shifter console work as 3rd locker when you get stuck and no one help you just press it and the you'll feel the tremendous power (unleash the beast MASTER) from inside cruiser heart LOL :flipoff2:

I don't quite understand why I need a 2nd button to control wheel spin when bigger tires will do. :D

Do ya think that button comes with the 5 speed trucks elsewhere?

Da, I bet you finnish in first place ifn you had a manual.

I take it you are looking at 80's, maybe on Ebay, and seeing photos of the shifter console where the "2nd Start" button is. If you do go look at one in person, point to the button and ask the owner if he has ever engaged the auxiliary engine... ;)
