:frown:Hey while trying to dignose my rough runing idles some of the time 84 fj60 i took out the VCV and blew a little compresed air through it and now the 60 will not idle:frown::crybaby: and now it runs worse
 
use the search function on this forum. top right corner on the beige header.

they are vaccum control valves. some others are: others are VTV, PCV, etc

they only allow a certain ammount of vacum through each (there are different ones that let more or less through).

i am assuming you blew it with too much pressure, and now it is not ever going to work right again. because it is not controlling the right ammount of vaccum in that spot, or allowing for backdraft.

someone posted up recently all of the different values for each VCV by color...
 
If you are talking about the green one on the carb, it's for the choke breaker. You may broke it's guts by blowing air through it with a compressor. That one has an extremely slow vacuum bleed off.

There is a testing procedure for the VTV's in the FSM .
 
We have to be careful about nomenclature. There is one VCV, several VTV and VSV's.

The VTV's are vacuum transmission valves. These have the colored bands and control vacuum (air) flow in one direction.

The VSV's are vacuum switching valves and usually an electric valve that turns vacuum on/off. BVSV's are bimetal VSV's and these switch on temperaure.

There is one identified VCV and this is a valve that is used to control the purge of the charcoal cannister. When the truck is hot (controlled by BVSV) and when a ported vacuum is high enough the VCV opens to pull air through the canister into the carburetor.

Check the VCV. put a vacuum pump with gauge on port S to make sure the diaphragm still holds vaduum. Then test ports Y and Z. with no vacuum applied, you should not be able to blow air (with your mouth) into Z and out Y. With vacuum applied, air should flow from Z to Y.

I forgot there is a second VCV that is used to control the purge of the distributor cap. The VCV clips underneath the air cleaner. Since it has the same part number as the one used to purge the charcoal canister, the test procedure should be the same. It's the VCV at the top of the page on this drawing:
