Do you drop it in your tank (like a pill) or stick it up your exhaust (like a suppository)?

Something to do with the wastegate or turbo boost??
Ive seen them before somewhere

Simon,

It looks like a boost pin to me. It's a part of the boost compensator on the injection pump. It will add more fuel than the stock one when the turbo comes on boost I personally don't have any experience installing one, but i think it's common practise with the VW tdi guys. So you might find more info on tdi forums.

HTH,
Mark

Simon,

I did some adjusting on my boost compensator this past fall. I don't have a power rod, but I do have a ground down rod that works similar. I'd be happy to help you install it. Fairly simple install in the boost compensator.

PM me if you would like my help.

Dave

Thanks Dave,
l already installed 2 of them few months back, they seem to give more midrange power.

Wow, I didn't notice that the original post was over a year old. My bad.

Hey is that a Zeal/Pro staff power rod? Does any one know if that would work in a boost compensator on a turbo 1hz. I can't remember if the boost compensator is actually off a 1hdt, if it is then it would work.

I wouldnt think there would be a boost compensator ona HZ but I dont know those motors at all.

I have used a similar fuel pin on my cummins, installs in 5 minutes, wakes it up pretty good, makes lots of smoke though.

I have one installed on my 80.... World of difference for driveability as we are always loaded up heavy... And yea it's a good way to discourage tailgaters. Lol

I have installed one on a Bosch VE Cummins 6B-T. Should be similar since they use the same IP as the IHD-T. SMOKE SCREEN !

i have installed one of the above powerrod zeal and it was 500km and the ramp now has a groove worn into it.i have since put the original rod back after grinding it and polishing.no wear on inspection after 2000km.My question is who make these rods( picture Above).
