WHAT HIGH LIFT should I buy ????

Hi-lift is the actual brand, and the one to get IMHO. I'd rather not use a knock-off of unknown chinese origin when lifting 6000lbs on the trail on a pretty thin steel rail, just to save $20.
I'd go with the longer one -sixty something IIRC- than the 48". A bit harder to store inside maybe -although readily doable- and can always cut it shorter if needed, but you may well need the extra height to lift off in a hole. Also less infuriating when used as a winch.

They're called widow makers for a reason. Don't cheap out & make that reason even more pronounced!!! PLEASE read up on the inherent danger of them & understand them before using them.

Get the 60 something inch Hi Lift. I have the 48" version and have been in situations where another foot or so would have helped. You'll more than likely never find yourself wishing you had purchased the shorter one.

Please don't buy a Chinese knock off.

Hi all,

Check around with your 'wheeling buddies. If some of them already bring a HiLift jack in their rig then no need to buy one yourself.

If you do buy one, be sure to get the carrying case, or make your own. These are tricky machines that work best (easy & smooth) when clean, not rusty, & lubricated. Carried out in the open on a truck the jack will soon become none of the above!

My US $00.02

Regards,

Alan

having mentioned the longer one, I should add that it's really not a great idea to have the head way up there -when vertical- unless you really really have to and are very very careful about it...
