I recently had an unmarked fuel cut solenoid go bad on my carb, causing a smog test fail.
The solenoid only had around 3 years and 10K on it. Replaced it with an Aisan marked one from a spare carb and it passed re-test easily.
Did some looking around (Amayama, Megazip, Partssouq) and found out OEM solenoids are NLA.
I found some in Toyota packaging on Ebay and bought 2 just for fun. They were around $22.00 each and shipped from Indonesia.
Are Toyota knock-off parts companies packaging their products this well, besides spelling carburetor "carburator"?

Minus the spelling those look pretty legit. Have you tried them out yet?

At least the spelling on your part is better than this one.

Mine ran like crap when that solenoid was not getting power. After fixing the wiring, it runs great now.

Finally got the roof back on. There was absolutely nothing technical about the refresh, just a bunch of little nuisance things. Things that I knew would wait ANOTHER very long time until they saw the light of day again. That coupled with the fact that I have a lotof other irons in the fire, as well as a health issue that took six weeks to resolve blah, blah, blah.

I replaced the 50-year old dash with a brand new one I picked up from Serra Toyota during one of their sales. I know some people have reported that it is not necessary to drop the windshield in order to replace the pad but I had to do it anyway for a number of reasons...
When the painters reassembled the truck, there were a few things they missed… First and most importantly, they lost the brackets and spacers that go on the bottom of the windshield frame (the ones where the big knobs attach). I had to source some replacements from a Mud member and attached them with OEM bolts. They also forgot to run the wire that goes up the windshield frame to the dome light on the B pillar. They also also forgot to put the defrost vents back on the windshield frame. And while I was there I took the opportunity to install the City Racer grommet for the windshield wiper motor.

The dash is still available new?

When I bought my 40 the dash pad was “roached” bad so I yanked it. Since then I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with the dash light that is built into the pad, so I came up with this. Repurposed a license plate, the light is in the box I made. The light hits the dash just right.

Do you have any photos of the screws that hold it in place? Are there gromets around them?
My pad is in OK shape but the holes are a bit rough and I haven't messed with the screws. Though I did replace one of the windshield retaining knobs.

You can get the insert retainers that are in the bottom of the dash pad. I replace mine and used slightly larger head screws. Made it very secure that line the entire hole and act like flat washers

The screws are just regular m5 25mm screws. As to the grommets, I removed the ones on the original pad and re-used them. The new pad did come with some grommets but I liked the original ones better so I used those. If you need the grommets, City Racer has them here. See picture of the original grommet (right) vs. the new ones.

These are "newer" dashes right, like 70s and beyond? This is kind of outside of my knowledge base but aren't there differences in dashes?
I think these work on 1968 and newer US spec FJ40s. The South American ones never had them.

That's good news for my 69 40
