I installed a toyota jerry can to my fj40. I wanted to install it to the back barn door then I realized my surfboard would not fit well hanging out the back with the jerry can. so I installed to the side. It was a gift from my wife and she said you better install it somwhere haha. I also got some photos back pre soft top of my wife in the 40 and they turned out great!

l began stripping out the leaking rad & worn alt belt only to find the water pump pinion shaft has about 5mm of play, so pointless carrying on until a new pump gets fitted, l'm going to check with local trade suppliers. (they sourced brake discs for me on Friday & l pick them Monday, so maybe a pump can also be found & l'll avoid ridiculous amounts of import tax.) In the meantime tomorrow weather permitting l'll fit the new wipers, arms & seals.

Over the past week I have drained/filled all the gear oil, rebuilt the center link, rotated the tires and mounted the gamiviti roof rack.

Next, I need to rebuild the pitman arm, steering gear box and replace the rag joint.
Still have body mounts and motor mounts to swap out. Plus I need to get out and drive it.

Trivia for the 40 crowd, and a good chunk of the 25 crowd as well:

pre-1964, pre PCV rigs had open slits in the valve cover AND a road draft tube on the side of the oil filler that eventually served to liberally lubricate a substantial part of the engine and undercarriage.

So my 1964 has a PCV? If so I need to find one as I would bet it is a part not often changed.

Things came together this week. The bikini top and half doors went on, reupholstered seats, marker lights and odds and ends. More to do but I'm also having fun driving it.

Do you have a picture of the door striker? I have those doors but don’t have the soft door striker.

I worked on a Mercedes benz once which had a pedal on the floor that worked similar to a brake master. It's purpose was to deliver lubricating oil to every chassis joint. Naturally the oil rapidly leaked out all over everything so you would regularly hit the pedal to deliver more.
No rust on that undercarriage.
Being a CA car, and stored indoors may have been contributing factors.

Been a while since I posted any progress pics. Big day getting the bar and rear seats lined up. Still lots to do but nice to reflect that 1. It looked like this on the day I took delivery, 2. All that was salvageable of the rear half of the tub was the upper channel after I sand blasted it, 3. I’ve learned enough to write a book on this

So today is kind of a holiday... offices aren't closed, but you don't have to use any time if you take the day off. And my Cruiser Corps box was coming in from FedEx today, so yeah, I took the day off and did some more work on the jump seats that I got from @codyaustin5. I also did a ton of work last weekend, so this is a catch-up post. Not quite done, I initially thought I would re-use the original foam, but now I have ordered some other foam, more on that to come later. The metal frames followed my normal rusty metal regimen, with wire wheels and sand paper and Ospho, Oh My! Holy metal on this project was limited enough that I feel confident in my JB Weld repairs. And I love the Ace Hardware Rust Stop Black Satin for this job. Here's a picture from 10 feet back, where they look the best LOL

I also ordered up all the parts for Jump Seats that are still available from my local Toyota guys. The feet actually came in overnight, that almost never happens with FJ40 parts!

That one looks like it was cast in early Spring in Texas when the pine tree pollen is everywhere! Oh well. There's a rain chance due to this tropical system, so everything came inside where my cell camera made it look weird, but here's kind-of a summary pic of where I am now.

My Cruiser Corp box showed up at 3:15, but those pics will have to wait till after I get the foam in. I'm thrilled to finally be getting rear seats in my 40! Ya'll have a great day, and keep yer powder dry!
