Hi folks!

I am considering of swapping the original power plant in my RJ70 2.4 petrol engine. I've been given a number of alternatives, but still not convinced on which engine would suit my preffered activities (which by the way can be found here--> http://gugujah.bravehost.com/ )

The basic question
1. Should I go with diesel powered engine?
2. or should I stick with petrol (newer) engine?

1GZ has been the popular recommendations.... I amalso thinking of the newer Hilux diesel engine...

Thanks...:frown:

Hi Isabri . I think most of us here are more tham a little bias towards diesels for their reliabilty, economy and the inherant safety of carrying deisel and refuelling on the trail.

I would get a Hilux diesel engine and the later the model, the better. Its probably best to get the gearbox that goes with it.
A few owners on Outer Limits4x4 have fitted the 1GZ but in Australia a lot of Hilux's and RJ70 get a V6 GM petrol engine which works well and there are lots of kits available

GM engines are not readily available nor popular here. I am also biased towards diesels for the same reasons.

Robin, thanks.... in fact one of that LC-II is with the 1KZ-T

The 1KZ-TE is where I'd look . . .

The 1KZ-T engine is by far the most awesome 4 bangger turbo diesel engine from Toyota that I never seen ..

But is completely incompatible with your tranny and tcase .. ( not imposible but complicated .. )

My recomendation go with 3L ( 2.8 diesel ) and turboed if you want ..
