What do you think of this bike rack?

It will only work with a traditional frame style, so I'd suggest picking up a couple frame adapters for friends w/ full suspension bikes. ...the XPORT one at Performance is only $15 and works well.

I am not a big fan of hitch mount racks myself. Just the thought of some knuckle head rear ending you and destroying my bikes makes me sick. Do you have a roof rack on your truck? I fabed up a two bike system that I bolted to my roof rack for under a $100. I can shoot you some pics if you are interested.

I don't know what they cost, but I really like these racks on the local busses: (That's not me BTW, just a google pic)

If you could find one like this for a hitch mount it would be the s***.

Also FWIW I prefer the versions with a swing away option to get the bikes out of the way so you can get in the back. I'd guess they are a little more $. I use a roof rack with trays for my bikes.

Found one. They are pretty spendy, but they'd probably do as good of job as any at taking care of your bikes.

Tray racks are quickly becoming the industry standard as full suspension frames are become more and more complicated.

Kuat is coming out w/ a new tray rack this fall at Interbike and shops are already putting in pre-orders for them due to the changing customer demands.

I do believe the bus racks were made by a company called Sportworks. Sportworks ended up selling their design to Thule and that rack is now known as the T2 (MSRP $400).

How bout this beauty?

$19.87 at Harbor Freight. It actually just hooks right over the ball. I have no idea how it stays put.

But, it would be easy enough to weld onto a piece of 2" tube.

There are plenty of supporters and detractors of everything HF around the web. Google Harbor Freight reviews and you'll come across a list of "acceptable" and "unnacceptable" items from some avid HF customers.

You should check the reviews before hanging a valuable bicycle off of one of these. ..then again, if you're a capable welder, you can likely overcome any shortcomings it may have.

As mentioned above, here's how I carried my bike around for years before hooking up w/ Kuat Racks.

nice very nice on the 40 racks!

i always used that spot for tailgating however before i traded down to a 60.....

probably go hitch mount for a rack on my 60, to CUT WIND RESISTANCE!:D I usually put my bike inside though.

also those roof top ones get pretty tall in the timbers...have seen people lose bikes and ruin roof top racks more than one time...

zack1978: that schwagman rack doesn't look too hot...
get a yakima, or something...

a few weeks ago Napa Auto had specials on i think it was Thule hitch mounted racks for like $225. much better quality.

www.rackattack.com

they have Yakima hitch mounts for $144-$368

I picked up a Kuat rack and have no complaints...works great and is easy to store (folds compact and light) Made a custom receiver-rise/extension for the FZJ80 and it just clears the spare tire.

racking my full suspension GF HiFi+ 29'er isn't the best, but with one rack post 'thru' the frame at the headset and the other 'above' the frame and strapped, it works fine...need to get some phat Velcro straps to be sure the rubbers don't break, but I've got a thousand+ travel miles on there with zero issues.
