I only ask this question here because I looked on forums but no other forum compares to this one...So I ask what are your thoughts on the 2.7L 4cyl in a 4runner, underpowered? Its in a 5 speed to....
In my opinion no, but I am used to driving a 22R powered truck. If you are used to V8 power you will probably be disappointed. I would take any of the Toyota 4cylinders over the 3.slo V6.
Definitely test drive the vehicle to make sure you can live with the power it can produce.
I did not think they put a 2.7 in the runner...hmmm. I had a Taco with a 2.7 and it was plenty for a small truck but I would say no in a runner. Hills would kill it.
I drove one (a 2.7 l 4 cyl 5 spd 4 Runner) a while back before I picked up my HDJ81. It was fine, no barn burner or anything but for most normal driving use, it seemed it would be ok. Now, if you load it up, do a lot of hills, and plan to tow, it'd be underpowered. I think it all depends on your use. But even though underpowered, you still get there and don't have to worry about speeding tickets.
