Hey guys,

Excited to be here and looking to pull the trigger on my first LC.

I have been searching for a few months and think I found one I feel really good about. It is a local trade in, been in this area since being bought new, and has most of the service records. The guy who owned it before had a 3rd party mechanic do most of the work, but it does have the records.

He traded it in for another LC at the dealership.

The car has 101k. The dealership performed the timing belt and water pump along with an oil change upon trade in. They are asking 26k. By looking at the CarFax it has been in there inventory for about 80 days now. I figured with being close to the end of the month and approaching 90 days in their inventory, I would shoot them an offer of 23k for starts?

What do you guys think? Good deal? Is there anything else I should look for with the LC?

I forgot to mention it is a 2006.. new to the forum.. can't find an edit tool? lol sorry about that guys.

Not sure why the passenger side headlight is so cloudy, but outside of that, looks like a clean truck. Thundercloud metallic is a great color too.

If it looks good in person, go for it. Also, don't see any harm hitting them with 23k to start.

I'm just saying what I'd do,

Sounds like a nice LC. I'd first wonder why it's been sitting for that long. Take a closer look underneath for rust issues. $23k would be a decent deal around here. Call your local Toyota dealer's service department to see what kind of records they pull up. You just need to provide them with the VIN. You can also do that online, I think. I also always Google the VIN number to see what possible info could pop up. Not saying anything could be wrong with the one you found, just giving you some ideas.

Post pics here if you have them.

*edit. Hmm. Can't seem to see the pics.

If you can get an accident free, well maintained, no rust 06 LC for $23K with only 101K miles, you've done very well! Does it have AHC?

just remember a clean car fax dont mean it has not been in a bad crash. It only shows what some insurance agency's report.

I bought a 2005 vette with a clean carfax only to find out it had been in 3 accidents one for over 25K when I went to insure it. You might want to see if you insurance agent will run the vin and see if they can see any accident reports.

Any body else have an idea of what to offer?
I would start around $20K...and keep in mind that the dealer has a car that's been sitting around and you have the $$$. ;).

Being a dealership (i.e. they are professionals) I do not see any harm in going low at $20k like hankinid suggested...that being said, I just spent the last 12 months shopping for a 2003 - 2006 cruiser with less than 115k miles, so I am not all surprised the dealer is asking $26k if it is indeed in great shape and had the timing belt done. Its a numbers game, and it is a sellers market. There simply are not a lot of low mile, great shape LCs out there, mainly because a.) not a super high-volume vehicle, and b.) the ones that are out there get used quite a bit, so the miles tend to pile on.

I think it sounds like a deal too.

You mentioned one headlight was cloudy - do you mean sun damaged cloudy? If so, than the other one was replaced, potentially from an accident. Check the body gaps around that area.

To put your price in perspective I just bought (2 weeks ago) an 07 LX with 112k, no rust, no accidents, with up to date records including timing and water pump. Asking price on a dealer lot was 26k, and I got it for 25k. They just weren't going to budge, they knew it would sell.

It looks like there is water (condensation) in the head light... i know the head guy in the service department... he said he would take a look at it.

I think I found the one OP is looking at.
2006 LC

So breddy, did you buy it?

That is the one i am looking at. I am going to pick it up tomorrow for an inspection. I put a refundable deposit down so they keep it in the back until i pick it up in the morning.. so even if i dont go with it i get the deposit back.

Just want to make sure there is no body rust... the LC drives great... no problems with turning or any of the electrical...

If any of you guys have someone you recommend for an inspection in the STL area feel free to let me know!

There is one that popped up for sale in the area.

Here is a link to the carfax.

What would you guys think if you saw that? It looks like a lot of dealers couldn't move it so it keeps getting passed around. I know a guy who works at the dealership so I know my deal on this one would be a few thousand less than the previous one.

Any big differences with an 04 to an 06?

Looks like it's had lots of dealer maintenance. I think the '04 has advantages over the '06 (no AHC), no VVTi (regular gas), etc. Check for rust as this has been a NY car for most of it's life.
