mother in law said not to let my step daughter ride in the 40.

Took the doors off sunday and took the step daughter to see the new harry potter at the IMAX

Sold the 40 (tentatively) and thanks to 89'srule may have a 60 in the parking lot by next weeks end... NEW PROJECT!!! My wife is ecstatic (dripping with sarcasm)

So my alternator died last night as we were going to a concert. I had to have it towed from the pay-lot downtown to ACC. I played hooky from work today to replace it at their garage. I got to the shop around 9 am and started removing the battery and one of the idler pullies near the alt. Got the skids off the bottom and set the tensioner pully in the relaxed state to get the belt off. Got the top bolt off the alt and started working on the bottom one. About 1/2 turn and the bolt sheared off. GAHHHHHHH! So I spent the next 2+ hours drilling it out with a 90* air drill. Air drills are not fast if you've never used one, but this area was tight, so it was the right tool for the job.

When I got there Will had already called Toyota to get a replacement alternator and found out they were on "national backorder"! So we called the nearest NAPA and they said they had one. I didn't go to pick it up until I was done drilling, but when I got there they had none. Turns out for whatever strange reason they thought Will said PT Cruiser (wha????). NAPA doesn't have ANY alternators for my truck - never did and likely never will for the time being. So then we started calling around to other 3rd party OEM vendors and found one in Tempe, Arizona. Will be here tomorrow.

Ah, so that is what your FB post was referencing...

Picking up a undercover bed cover after work for the tacoma. Found one for a good price used on CL. It'll be nice to have some lockable storage for the back of the truck. Only thing left is to pick up a bed mat and maybe some 5100 billy's and 286 ome coils.

got in my new family bikni top!

Welp, no more than 5 mins after I get the covered installed, I get rear ended at a stop light. Wife and I are ok, just sore. Will post pics tom.

Sorry to hear about that, John. Glad everyone is OK.

Man that stinks. Time to upgrade the rear bumper?

accident

So the wife and i went out to pick up this bed cover in greer last night. Everything was great. Stopped at the red light on locus hill rd (?) and i look back in the rear view and i see this old truck just take a nose dive. I cut the wheel and hit the gas trying to pull into the medium, but i wasn't quick enough. He hits the back of us. Luckily we were moving so the impact wasn't that bad. We both pull into the medium and we both make sure everyone is ok. He says his brakes never caught and they went down to the floor. Then he says, "man, your truck is pretty tough, not that much damage. I reply "gez, thanks, i guess". Cops show up and file a report. Guy tries to blame the wreck on faulty brakes to the cop, but he doesnt buy it. The airbag light was on, but never deployed, so i took it to the dealership to have them check it and everything seems to be good to go. I'll let usaa take it from here.

keeping it stock for now. i dont want the addiction to spread to this truck.

I thought you bought it already partially built. Might as well put an upgrade on, will prob be same price as oem. Glad y'all are ok.

Glad you are OK John.

BTW - Gordon's isn't sold anymore...

Gordon is still available, just has a different name on the can. It is now labeled "G'Knight". Same exact beer and obviously still named after Gordon Knight...

Oskar Blues changed the name after being issued a cease and desist order by the Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant Group.

Would have been fun to be on the team chosen to "destroy" the remaining cans of Gordon when the decision was made!!

Glad you are ok.... he is right there is almost no damage to yours.....

good news is you can now get an aftermarket bumper because it will most likely actually cost less than a new oem one from a toyota dealership.

Still waiting for someone to rear end me so I can get a 4x4 labs one. :hhmm:
