What did you do with your truck this week?

Well put the fuel filter back together, after about 15-20 min of starting the 40 finally fired up....and a few more min and she was idling on her own....put her in gear and she did not move....put her in 4 wd and i put her under the carport....loosened the e brake and she rolled freely....it was a great day

Finally drove it locally after doing some work with dohcdelsol on it. Probably the best it has ever ran so far. I got to get that belt for my power steering though. My pythons arent quite big enough to drive without it.

I started the pig up and took it for a ride around the neighborhood with my daughter. She says it's a big stinky truck. I am so proud.

Oh, and I made an appointment at ACC to have a few things done. I just don't have the time between now and our move.

I thought you sold thaT "BIG STINKY TRUCK"

More progress on Bertha:
Went to Summit Racing's retail store in McDonough Saturday AM and picked up a new kickdown cable and tachometer. Got the kickdown installed after a little bit of installing, adjusting, de-installing, cutting, reinstalling, adjusting. Seems to be pretty close now.

Planning on installing the tach in the old ashtray panel. Still need to work out the details of that...

Waiting for new OEM gas tank filler hoses to arrive, so we can replace the booty-fab ones that I installed. For some reason, it's not venting properly and we can't fill up the tank by conventional means. Having to decant from a gas can and siphon tube right now.

Bertha will be at GSMTR, but we're not sure we'll have the powertrain exactly how we want it before then. We really need to re-gear her from 2.72 to 3.73 if we put the 33" MT's back on. Just not sure we have the time and $$$ to do it before then.

Bookmark this... we found a really cool online re-gearing calculator at www.GrimmJeeper/gears.html. Let's you plug in two different scenarios side by side so you can compare RPMs and MPH. It has a huge database of existing transmissions, tcases and doublers (all in drop down menus) that you can use to run the calculation.

Get out your flamthrowers!! I put a 68" lawnmower belt on the cruiser today for under $15. I am going to get a kevlar belt for around 20 next week. So far it works fine and my power steering is working great as well. Interesting to see if it holds up in the gulches next sat. And yes i will have the 2nd belt with me just in case.

i had a rotary kevlar belt on my 60 for over a year with no issues. Even smoked it one really good time wheeling. My stock PS pump on the 2F was really on it's last let.

they are pretty tough animals, i'd be more worried if there was a cheap autozone belt on there.

Glad to hear you got her ready to go wheeling again!

time to check out the bowl again?

maybe in a weekend or two. I really need to make sure 4wd is in proper order but a good spot to check it is hard to find. I am pretty sure it is working fine though. I think most of my problems with spinning up that hil was over inflation of my tires as well. Not enough grip i guess.

i would imagine most of your issues coming up that hill at the bowl were from you not being able to rev up the engine.

I never lower the air in my tires and pulled you fine up the hill without spinning a tire.

The passenger that was with me had never been wheeling before, i think he was ready to crap his pants when i told him i was going to chain up to you and pull you up the hill.

We found another nice trail out in the piedomont area that i need to show you after you do a few test runs. 4wd will be a must on more than a few spots on this trail.

We will have to wait until it's somewhat dry. Some of the spots looke like they could be a little crazy when things are wet.

cool. The 4wd works as far as i know. Will find out at gulches i guess.

Tightened up my upper control arm ball joints and changed out a bad u-joint on my rear driveshaft. The u-joint had gotten clogged in one cap, but the other 3 were getting plenty of grease. The pin bearings fell out in a cloud of dust when I finally got it apart.

Old bumper, stuck a little too far out. I always liked the way it looked but I got it hung up a few times last year. I really liked the unique look of the bumper and never thought I would sell it but two things happened at once. One a guy that had seen my truck in four wheeler last year contacted me about how much he loved the way it looked. I figured that would be a good home for it to go to. And two I was offered a killer deal (trade on some old tires) for a modified high clearance ARB from a buddy of mine.

After I removed the old one I decided to paint the grill and the light frames. So off they came.

That looks slick Al...

Drove the 40 around the block a few times today.....gotta go get a new sticker to make her legal again

Personally kept the oil refining industry stable.

Put her to work. Been driven 2hrs one way each day last week working on a project down near you guys. Loaded 2000lbs of stone at a time in the 45 and it handled it well. Made about 4 trips to the stoneyard saturday and each time it took longer to leave the crowd of on lookers. and of course there was that one guy.....HEY yous been in fowheeler magazine aintcha?

i feel 2'' shorter though from all that bench time :D

Took it scouting in WNC. Found some cool stuff. Drug my RTT across/under/against more downed trees than it was ever meant to handle - think I tweaked the ladder under the cover a bit.

Finished wearing out my brake pads and have to replace them now.

I officially have way too much junk in my trunk and need to install my heavy rear OME springs.

put it in some moud only to realize no 4wd!!

checked the fluids, and drove it from Royston, to Rome GA,,,and back ~350-400 miles

I should have had the 33" tires balanced, because all the vibration shook something loose and my electric locks dont work now...

almost finished with the rear bumper, going to start the front and finally mount the m12000.. then a storage box in the bed, hopefully before the mid april SEO trip

oh yea, crossed 324k miles
