Details on the AR? Before working for Interstate Batteries I worked in the 2A community. The only thing I miss is SHOT show. Seeing all the new things coming out.
Notjing fancy, just Springfield armory .556 11.5" pistol. It had been on the shelf at the local hardware store for a longtime so they made me a deal I couldn't resist.

I threw an extra larue trigger I had laying around in it and i ordered a holosun AEMS red dot. It will be a fun little truck gun.

If you have sliders or front/rear bumpers I would look into the ARB jack. It is expensive but as most say, buy once cry once. The ARB is a lot safer then your standard high lift jack.
I don’t have either yet. Planning ARB bumper as soon as I get everything sorted under the hood and I am hoping I am close. Then maybe sliders in the future. Thx.

Checked out Beasley Knob in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Had a map but still got lost. What we drove was fun, steep muddy roads, some off camber, mild rock. We saw one road that was a rock garden and were warned not to driver it and we did not being limited on time. We had to winch both Cruisers on one uphill section that had a tight turn, snot slick clay, ruts, and rock. All I have is a static photo for when we stopped for lunch.

As factory jacks go, Land Cruiser jacks are quite good. Phil's adapter is a plus I use all the time.

The main issue with them is where they are stowed. If the quarter window is leaking, water can collect in the jack bracket and rust the jack.

It's a good idea to inspect the jack regularly to ensure it's not getting wet. I have mine in a heavy freezer storage bag.

Love Beasley Knob. Been once, did all the trails except for the hardest. Soooo much fun. Didn’t have to winch fortunately, did have to triple lock a couple times though for sure. Was wet, but not overly so. Wish it wasn’t 2-hours away!

My son and I did Front brakes today -
Question … what is preferred jack to have in your 80 ? I had a 12 ton bottle jack and didn’t realize it was way short - and my son’s floor jack was too short, not worried about home- can get a big floor jack but what about on the road for something with 33-35” tires. I need in my truck now. This would have been a disaster with a flat. My recovery boards have a jack platform in the middle if that helps at all, but do I just need a 36” bottle jack or what is best ? I do not want to be stranded if I have a flat off road- this was a major oversight in my part

Hoping to get shocks on this week and oil pan gasket within next couple weeks.
IMHO, the 80 series OEM bottle jack is superior to most bottle jacks in that it's not hydraulic. It also extends more than double it's closed height (with screw extension engaged). The handle is lengthy enough (when assembled) to keep you out of harm's way when vehicle is in the air. The handle is in the jack kit and is assembled to the length needed. The LCP adapter @Broski and @cruiserdan mentioned even makes it better. I've used it on the side of a fairly steep hill to change out a front tire with my spare in the outback. I've owned several hydraulic bottle jacks and when stored in a vehicle, they seem to lose their seal (from extreme temps, vibration or whatever) which makes a mess, but also reduces their effectiveness.

I would only use it to change a tire as a last resort.
Agreed. Hi-Lifts are a good tool to have, but are notoriously unstable and dangerous to use because they are so often used with the improper technique and in poor conditions - weather and/or terrain.

Agreed. Being that they're a "screw type" bottle jack, care must be taken to keep them clean and dry when stored. But when kept in good condition, they are rugged, reliable, versatile and just about the best OEM jack I've ever used.

Perhaps, but I have a hi-lift, so I don't care. :)

Knew a guy decades ago who lost his front teeth from a high lift. He sure could whistle good after that!

Cheers

Doesn't look like you have a big lift, Safe Jack line of bottle Jacks would be my choice. Pricey but comes with different length adapters. Lighter and safer than Hi-Lifts.

@Tim Herald
Another tip that I do when changing out a tire is to place the compromised tire under the rock slider when swapping out the spare. In case the tire change process "slips".

Dropped it off to get a window put in it

New Shortblock, cylinder head, H152 swap, and supercharger rebuilt with 2.8 pulley. First start happened this weekend and she started and sounds healthy! Need another weekend to button some things up before the first drive, but hopefully will be back on the road within the next few weeks whenever we have another day to work on it.

@ExpoMax is a wizzard and this would have never happened without him.
