Good early morning solo hunt so no decent pics …the old 80 has become a perfect hunting rig.

Went to the ACC family reunion on Saturday at Choccolocco 2026 ACC Family Reunion Campout - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/2026-acc-family-reunion-campout.1378458/ Spent half the morning following @Old Nick around. 5 minutes into the run he got deep into a rut and looked like he was going to flop. I didn't get a photo of that, this photo was immediately afterwards.

Cool. ACC is re-baselining my Collectors Edition at the end of the month/first part of June. Hope to be invited next year! :)

Actually wanted to highlight the leak free seals under high water pressure for the BAT listing, but definitely had to wash off all the pollen that's been making me sneeze my head off (I hate spring)
And you had to have a movie playing on the rear visors the whole time? 🤷‍♂️🙄

Replaced brake fluid on the 96. Took two tries to get it right. Had slightly mushy pedal after first go after accidentally let master cylinder level drop too low during the process. Wasn’t 100% sure I had introduced air into system because my test drive was only a short time after driving my 911 fairly aggressively for a couple hours. And there is a slight difference in pedal feel between those vehicles…

Redid the job this morning with dramatic improvement.

It was a great time hanging out with you and the gang. Yeah… that was a real pucker moment… 🤣

I mostly fixed my floppy mirror. That spring is a pain to compress without a vise. Grrr I'll post up a more detailed video when I get the rest of the parts installed.

Awesome! I have the exact same problem and was planning on going through wrecking yards to find a good mirror. Thanks! I'll definitely go with this fix!

More parts collecting next thing I have to do is the knuckle rebuild cause the donor diff is a little notchy feeling and the bearings are slightly loose. The donor housing came from a vehicle that only had 98k and it looks like it never had rotors replaced, probably just a pad slap if anything. The old diff housing has 198k on it and lived in Montana for a spell and it shows. Not sure if the old axles are OE or not but what I do know is they don’t click on hard turns and they’re free at this point.

pulled out my iron man lift with fox shocks and installed extended brake lines, extended bump stops, Delta rear spring retainers, extended rear sway bar brackets, and Dobinson MRR long travel shocks with dual rate springs. Bled the brakes using Endless brake fluid that I have a ton of for my track car.

Don’t mind those scratches, were there when I bought the truck, but the factory antenna wasn’t. Purchased an antenna off of Amazon and installed it in 5 minutes. Wish I had taken pictures of the process in hindsight.

The previous antenna had broken off and a knarly stub level with the base was present. Attempted to pull it out with pliers, no go. Then I wondered “if it won’t go up, will it go down?”. I got a #3 Phillips and gave her the juice. Didn’t take much effort and I recessed it about 3 inches. I attempted to insert the antenna I had purchased but it was just a few thousandths too big but really close. I tried to roll the edge of the antenna base with the screwdriver but no luck. I’m no proctologist, but I figured all I need is continuity right? So I decided to take a flat head screwdriver and deform the steel tube of the new antenna longways into a “U” shape from the bottom to about an inch up the length. Gave it a small squeeze with my pliers to make it a bit smaller and inserted. It’s a nice tight press fit. I put it in as far as I could by hand, up to the point where the deformation ended. Then I used a 9 or 10mm deep socket and rubber mallet to hammer it down the rest of the way.

I’m happy to say I can now clearly pick up radio stations 50 miles away.

No running new antenna cable, no removing wheels and wheel wells. Feel free to call me a dumbass or a genius, either are acceptable.

Edit: now that I think about it, maybe freezing the new antenna would shrink it enough to fit.
