I needed to make up for being out of town for 3-4 days. I was able to get the rebuild steering box by red head back on the truck and the entire power steering systems back together. Also, installed the new power steering cooler from @Cruisers and Co, but it looks like I may have installed it incorrectly. Looks like it in need to flip the bracket around. Also, replaced the pump motor and washer bottle.

Over a few days I've been doing some work on my under loved 80. I started removing the carpet to replace it with a kit from a vendor here on mud. When removing the rear seat belt anchor, the whole thing came out.

That probably explains the road noise I was getting back there lol. I cut out the rust, got a patch panel in and seam sealed. I still need to put some bedliner on the fender side but it's good to go.

I also fixed two wires for the left rear door switch and lr door courtesy light. Both circuits had corroded wires that took a little time to fix, my power probe open circuit finder made it pretty easy to find and fix.

I laid down sound deadening and deleted on the rear heater blower with a DVS block off plate.

I'm hoping to get the carpet in and start trimming this week.

Removed springs to add a 15mm spacer on the drivers side which pretty much took care of the lean. 22 3/8 " passenger side and 22 1/4 " driver side. Perry parts bump stops installed too.

Flexed it out and it only needed minimal trimming on the rear mudflap and a tiny spot on the inside of the flare. I have maybe 1" shock travel left with the bumpstop fully squished. Hopefully I can do the same on the front axle this week.

When my turd becomes ready I will! Which turd that is at the moment who f#cking knows!!

I gots to run the rubicon this year in one of them or I may feel like a man-fail! 😬

Cheers

I got the starter installed, but still need to connect the exciter wire and the hot wire. Also, got the front fender back on. Thanks to @baldilocks and @Malleus for their wisdom on the right part numbers for the fender clips! Last I WAS able to get the front and rear differentials and the transfer case full of gear oil.

Yanked all the flares, running boards, hitch and factory spare off.
Pumped some grease into the knuckles trying to quite a clacky CV (didn't work) Tightened up some floppy front wheel bearings (bad install by the PO)
Checked a bunch of fluids and slapped my new 35 inch wheel and tire combo on so I could hit the mountains with some friends.
Went high enough to finally get stopped by some snow and set up camp for the night.

You went for the good oil! And cool tool for pumping oil into the axle.

When you spend this much time and money preserving a piece of history, it only makes sense to take care of it with good fluids! I also have OEM red coolant and OEM transmission fluid to in as well. I thought the pump bottle I was getting was a little bigger but it got the job done.

What kind of pump bottle is it? Reminds me of the Australian Tom Thumb style, but we can't get those in the states..
