Can't wait to get out there next week! I'll be driving out from MD and have friends in Salida, CO for a stop off about 6 hours out. That said, I'm driving at least out there...I may leave my rig in Salida for a bit for a summer trip back. Excited to run your trails compared to the east coast jagged rock gardens & mm's to spare on the side panels through the narrow tree passes. I'll have some spares with me, and a friend is caravanning out with me in his 100, plus my 30 year old son will be riding along too, so hopefully an uneventful 2000k + miles out in 3 days.

Trail wise, I'm running 7's max...I have a friend coming too in his built 100 from Denver & he'll have his trailer in case 1 of the 3 of us have issues...he could get me back to Salida if I break and can't fix there. I'm signed up for Elephant Hill to start, Flat Iron Mesa day 2, and Top of the World (full loop backwards). We'll probably run on Wednesday afternoon ourselves since my Denver buddy knows some of the trails to get us started (he's only been out there for a year, but pretty knowledgeable at this point).

Unfortunately fuel prices will be a burn for sure...with my LRA 27 gal aux tank, I filled them both up from empty...this is just the start! Pump cut me off at $175.00...another $80.00 to hit my 46ish gallon fill up :censor: ...at least this will get me 500+ miles per fill if I really needed it.

You’re going to have a great time!! cruise Moab is a premier event to ha, very organized.
They also have a dedicated team for recovery or getting broken rigs back to camp.
In traditional Toyota fashion everyone is ready to help/ lone parts to get you up and going if need be !
I totally respect people’s choice of trail difficulty, and would never want to talk somebody into running a trail that’s over their head or skill level.
This is the first time I missed CM in the last 9 years ! One of mine favorite events!
Safe travels and enjoy!!

I was going to say wait...find a cheaper state to fill up in on your way. I mean, you don't need to fill both tanks...

But, then I noticed you are filling up with premium. Reason? Turbo?

We were supposed to head to Cruise Moab today...but my rear e-locker decided it didn't want to work..just got to figure that out and then we leave.

4.88s and ARB going in tomorrow hopefully. How are guys getting that copper line in???? Wrestled with it for 45 min today before giving up. Can’t seem to get it in there without it binding??? Followed ARB’s part to a tee? Just wants to hang on the outer lip

First I would finish getting the old gasket material off the mounting surface of the diff housing. I put mine in on my back in the rear two weeks ago. I set the gear in that cut out groove at the bottom of the diff and the rotated the pinion flange vertically so I could slide the copper line just under the top lip of the housing and once it was past the lip you can rotate the flange back down and start wiggling it the rest of the way into place to line up with the studs. it was not easy but I did it by myself and it took less than 10 minutes.

A nights rest did me well. Got it rotated in successfully and all buttoned up. Hopefully can get the front out this afternoon and same same all over again! Thanks for help yall

Recovery work kept me busy this weekend — pulled an 80 out of a riverbed crossing where the owner underestimated how much the current had come up. Airing down to 18psi and using a tree as a snatch block anchor got it out without much drama, but it reminded me to check rope condition before the season gets busy. Also been doing a lot of winch rope inspections lately. UV damage is easy to miss — the sheath looks okay but the core is getting fuzzy. If it looks chalky or the weave is starting to separate, that's your cue to replace before you're relying on it. Spent half a day re-spooling an M8000 where someone had let it get sun-damaged. Not a fun way to spend a Saturday.

At least gas price in Moab is around $4.00

the daughter told me the cruise was cutting out on bumps on the diesel and that she couldn't control her heat.

I'd recently replaced the water valve cable and wouldnt you know it, i had the sheath in the wrong spot and the cable was binding and would pop off the arm in the glove box. easy fix.

The cruise... the two halves of the connector are broken and don't stay together well. Because im lazy, a zip tie was installed. I'll eventually order new connectors and replace them.

I have my timing bumped up a couple of degrees, so I tend to run premium, especially when planning trips crossing the mountains. Flatlands I'd probably be just fine on lower octane. Fill wise, my gauge for my aux tank is being wonky and showed a half tank (which I was skeptical of). I wanted to fill now in a controlled way so I could be sure what was going on before I hit the road and count on that fuel and have none! Turns out that I was flat empty in that tank, so I'll just need to monitor the transfer volume as best I can and keep it on the full side for safety (reads full now which is correct). One thing I don't love is that I have to fill my main before it'll switch over to the aux fill, so I decided to bite the bullet now and know exactly how much is in there to start at least. I'll be traveling out with a club mate in his 100, so I'll just top off when he needs to stop, way sooner than I would need to....I'm sure I'll be ready for a restroom break anyway by then. ;) 🦀

Hoping to meet a lot of forum friends out there and hope the that you get your locker sorted! Sorry to hear that @Broski won't be there this year, I was looking forward to meeting & checking out your rig! That said, looks like an unforgettable trip to Europe in your thread!

Dash and cluster bulbs replaced... dash back together... and the new Alpine head (ilx-470 and piggyback amp 450) installed. Sounds pretty darn good. Still need to tidy up the carplay and mic wiring. Then, getting th interior back together.

Well it is out of the shipping box and on the engine stand and taped off for paint. Now time to research the best way to clean this engine up and repaint it since I know the factory paint is lack luster at best! Any recommendations on how to deal with this crappy dusting of paint Toyota put on this new short block?

I'd opt for coating it with oil...that's what going to be there anyway.
