The heart is back in the fj80! After a year of toiling over this project she’s finally back in where she belongs. Now just need another big push to get her running and driving.

I did the tailgate storage thing! Went with the kit from @MongooseGA The Artisan Garage. It’s very DIY as you need to assemble all aspects of the panels and doors, but that is what I liked about it. I got it powered locally, the tan is closer to the interior in person. Overall I’m stoked!
I haven't heard of this offering before your post, so thank you for posting this!!!!!

Hyper-miled to the beach house plus first use of the new cup holder in the 96. The 91 - my normal beach cruise - is out of commission with a misfire on cylinder 6 and an intermittent coolant leak that oddly appeared at the same time but seems unrelated. I think the coolant leak is coming from the oil cooler, although the soft lines in and out of the oil cooler and the clamps are fairly new. Maybe one of the gaskets for the big bolts on the front. The misfire is not a plug or wire issue so thinking it might be a fuel issue. I’ve seen posts where it was an injector stuck open. TBD…

Got a lot done today but did not get pictures of everything. I extracted the bolt I broke off in the frame when I was removing the transmission cross member 6-7 months ago. I also removed the air box and got it all cleaned up. While the air box was out, I was able to finish getting the engine bay cleaned up and looking better. I also got the heater exchange valve installed along with the LCP rear heater delete hose. Then I crawled up under the truck and I installed the hex drain and fill bolts in both axles. While I was under there, I removed the brake line that is no longer used running down the drivers side frame from where I removed the ABS and LSPV. The I decided while I was under there I would wipe down and verify the frame was free from rust. Very happy with how nice the frame is holding up, no rust any where at least from the front to the rear axle. I also installed the new OEM oil filler cap.

Fwiw, the EFI relay runs hot in every 80.
The new Denso relay can be purchased here for about $9 and is an exact replacement for the OEM relay.

The 3 that should be replaced are:
EFI MAIN
CIRCUIT OPENING
POWER MAIN

https://www.densoproducts.com/denso-056700-5260-heavy-duty-relay.

And the horn relay is a 3 pin, not a 4 pin relay so it is not a replacement for the EFI relay.
Does that denso part number work for all three relays that you said should be replaced? For both 93-94 and 95-97?

EFI MAIN relay is the same from 91-97.
POWER MAIN relay is the same from 91-97.
CIRCUIT OPENING relay is the same for all OBD2 95-97.
CIRCUIT OPENING relay for OBD1 (91-94) is 85910-30050 (different animal)

I keep saying it was another big day, but I am going to say it again. It was another big day in the garage! I started small by replacing the control plate on the shifter and replaced the bulb with the little green condom. Then I put the air box and the AFM back together with a new gasket after cleaning it all up. Next, I decided I needed to do some fun stuff since I am waiting on parts to finish the engine before it goes back in. I wiped the entire inside of the truck down to get all the dust and anything else that had collected while I was working, and then got the carpet back in. I did not feel like stopping yet, so I jumped into the pile of stuff that @Delta VS sent 3-4 months ago. I was able to get the ceiling storage rack, bulkhead, and the Quarter Panel Mount installed. Then I threw in the 4x4 Labs 3rd row Cargo Rack, and finally put in the @Bellfab Interior Tire Carrier. I must say even though it does not have an engine or transmission in it, it is starting to feeling like a Land Cruiser again! My vision is starting to come together thanks to a ton of help from people on here and great vendors that support our 80’s!

I gotta say the old control plate looks pretty good. Is there something functionally wrong with it?

In prep for what will be coming soon:

Yet another successful radiator delivery! Serra Toyota of Decatur has knocked it out of the park, 3 for 3 on shipping me radiators! Highly recommend.

700 mile round trip swing through AL and MS this weekend to pick up parts for this The Dirty Pig From Paris - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/the-dirty-pig-from-paris.1376846/

First stop was in south MS at an undisclosed location to load up with Pig parts. Seats, radiator, NOS windshield, and a couple or three tubs of loose parts. From there we drove north to the Tilda Bogue Pick 'N Pull. Got in before dark but not by much. Hung out with Grogan for an hour or so and looked for parts. He has a couple of nice Saudi Cruisers, an 80 with a diesel and 100, both have manual 5 speeds, and low mileagen and both are for sale. We camped at the shop, had to take cover about 0400 when a storm rolled through. Next morning loaded a 2F, a set of Saudi split rims, and a whole metric butt load of other parts for the pig. My son @cruiserinsanity is building this Pig.

My 80 can with battle damage courtesy of the PO, my Dad 🤣

I had a guy follow me from lunch back to the office a couple of months ago and offer to message out the dents. My truck will never be a show piece so once we hit $350 in the haggle I turned him loose. He did a fair job on the dent but I wasn’t standing over him and he covered his work with a crappy job with a primer.

This morning I finally went after his work with 1,000 and 2,000 and then painted it with single stage rattle can I ordered online. I’m going to give this a week to cure then sand and buff it out. This is just one of the dents.
