Wow sorry you didn’t have a good time!!

Maybe you missed it but I wrote: "As for Cruise Moab event itself? Myself and my wife enjoyed it"

I know it was buried in all the other text about the campground...😜

The Cruise Moab event itself was fantastic. Is wishing it being longer a terrible thing? 😉 I mean, for someone driving a great distance, I think the Easter Jeep Safari is a great alternative choice.. drive time vs trail time...

IMO CM is one of the best TLCA sanctioned events out there.
It’s perfectly clear how long the event is when you sign up. And you must have know how long you drive was going to be !!
I always show up the Saturday before the event starts to get the most out of my trip and it’s only 1000 miles one way for me.

I was bummed when I read you weren't coming. I wanted to say hi. 👋🏻 East Coast meets West Coast..lol

I am the type of guy that will walk around and say hi...and I did...met many people.

We also didn't drive straight to Moab. The Gateway Arch, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, etc.. we took our time driving to Moab.

Honestly....when you live on the east coast, it takes until Colorado before the scenery gets interesting...😆 Ok..the Berkshires and Adirondacks are cool...just not as cool as the Rockies.

We arrived Sunday but it was a ghost town until Wednesday, inspection day.

I was also surprised how much of a ghost town the campground became on Saturday, the last day of official trail rides. I assume it was all the vendors who cleared out.

One can not but be blown away by the entire Moab area... as I wrote, one should spend a few weeks in the area.

The reason why they suggest the old Spanish trail arena for camping as so that you can walk to vendors & raffle night. You also can walk around camp and meet other Cruiser heads have a few beers and not worry about driving.

I understand their thinking. I just think ground tent camping at the Old Spanish Arena is a hard ask...

I am already looking at maybe getting a tow rig/camper...I really like your setup.

Being a Ford guy, considering a Ford F350 with slide-In or perhaps used Super C. Trisha (if I remember right) and her husband, has a nice F350 dually with a slide in...she is very nice and she showed me around her camper.

Yes it windy but it’s windy everywhere in that general area.

Every year there’s a CM thread in the event section that you can ask questions.

Yep, I have that thread on "Watch" and I have posted in that thread.

Yes they have great trail leaders the one in the picture name is Rob wheeled with him many times. I think he’s been to every CM that I can remember.

In closing I would say that it’s a lot of work to put on any event. CM is very well organized and everyone working to make it happen is volunteering their time.
Big thanks to all the people that make it happen!!

Rob was excellent, whom I forgot the name of. Thanks for reminding me. Way too many names to remember... He was impressive as a guide and as a driver with that Tacoma.

Jackson (I think?) was the other guide pictured.

A person new to the sport asked a question over the radio and Jackson did a fantastic job of answering, educating and explaining in great detail.. It was really impressive to the say the least.

I hope to meet you one day @Broski

Whoever’s 80 I saw on I-10 north of Panama City Beach.. your driver side rear flare is loose and flapping around.

I did a bit urban wheeling. 😁

Wow that’s a big truck to be pulling 😳

And it was full of 💩 my first try. It's a Septic truck. 😬 He had to pump it all back into the tank before we got him out.

There was no need to reroute the exhaust, but I plan to chop it in the near future for additional clearance

The reason I ask is because your exhaust is running on the outside of the frame rail. My 4x4 Labs bumper covers this area up and I had to route my new stainless tip and resonator inside the frame rail.

First time at cruise moab was freezing cold/rain/wind and second time was unbearable wind/dust all day long.
I get what you're saying on the tent camping at the arena. Trailer would be no issues

Skipped it this year and doing SAS instead
I usually do both 😁 See-ya at SAS

I totally agree about the camping and weather at CM my slide in camper makes it bearable but I don't think I well ever get all the red dust out of it 😂

I bought the 80 a new front axle.
Ruff Stuff housing set up for a 9.5” 3rd member.
I have a 9.5 third on the shelf. I’ll need to regear and add a locker.
My hellfire knuckles will work with this axle.
My RCV’s should work too.
This winters project.
Install axle,
Lower the 80 2”.
Redo the 3 link.
Cut fenders, add 40’s.
Hydro assist 👍

The 80 was dying after 20-30 minutes of being warmed up and driven around. There weren't any codes (OBD1) being stored. It would die even when in motion on the gas, then crank but not start. Checked battery, etc, and after 10-20 minutes it would start back up but not drive for long.

Long story short, I recommend everyone check and carry around a spare fuel relay ( #90987-02004-83 ). They apparently overheat and need to cool down in order to start the vehicle again. I have a 94 so this should be applicable for 93-97.

Got towed home to be safe as I didn't know what it was exactly. The nice thing is the horn relay (directly next to the fuel relay) can be swapped on the fly. I'm assuming Toyota used the same relay for the horn intentionally for this situation (there are also similar relays inside the cabin I believe). Member below mentioned horn is 3 pin not 4 so cannot be swapped~

You can see the new relay installed above circled in purple, the top is bright and shiney. These things seem to get really hot, after 15 minutes of driving mine was hot to the touch. It's only 117F after 15 min so assuming it can get much higher during long drives + hot weather.

I bought a spare as well. These things are $40 a pop now for Mr. T OEM.

Maybe your fuel pump is dying and hence drawing too much current.

You have a 1FZ-FE, not sure how your EFI relay would overheat since your exhaust manifold is on the pass. side. Something else is going on with your rig.

Pretty sure he said fuel relay which I assume to mean fuel pump relay.

PSA, this thread popped up a couple days ago on the relay subject and @jonheld provides Denso part# 056700-4810 as a direct replacement for $9

So same problem, same hot climate (I'm in Austin too), same part. Interesting. I did see the mention it could be "something else" i.e. fuel pump or wiring related, but given my previous relay was manufactured in 2011 - that means the first one lasted about 17~ years and the previous one is on 15~ years.

Fwiw, the EFI relay runs hot in every 80.
The new Denso relay can be purchased here for about $9 and is an exact replacement for the OEM relay.

The 3 that should be replaced are:
EFI MAIN
CIRCUIT OPENING
POWER MAIN

https://www.densoproducts.com/denso-056700-5260-heavy-duty-relay.

And the horn relay is a 3 pin, not a 4 pin relay so it is not a replacement for the EFI relay.

Thanks, I edited my post to omit the swap - I didn't pull the horn relay and confirm so my bad.

I just ordered 4 more of the denso ones you posted so I can replace all of them and not think about this for the next 10 years.
